I have been going to Shobha since 2012 -- as an Indian woman I am fully aware there are less expensive $7 to $10 brows but my experience with many in NYC have been technicians distracted, hurried, unprofessional as heck and not using proper hygiene techniques. I have went to most Shobha locations for eyebrow threading, full body waxing and even laser treatments once they started offering the services.
Initially, I use to see one of the OGs Kamala but once she left, Arisa became my main! Arisa is kind, sweet and a true professional. She listens to what you want to achieve and tries her best to mitigate the pain and discomfort that comes with these services. For example, I tend to break out on my brows but because Arisa's threading and waxing technique is gentle and efficient, followed up with cooling rosewater wipes and application of hydrocortisone cream (if requested), my breakouts have been minimal. With Arisa, I have done lasering on multiple body parts, body waxing, full face waxing and threading. I have been loyal to Arisa for many years. Sadly, I am not in NYC anymore but when I do return and have the time, I make sure to swing by to get my brows blessed by her and any other hair removal I need. If Arisa left Shobha and I was still in NYC, bet I would follow her! Love you Arisa!
The Soho location is the flagship. Very convenient location between Brooklyn and the rest of the city. Its a large and beautiful space. Staff is always friendly and try their best to get you in. I am very happy that they have an app that you can quickly book and reschedule appointments. Take advantage of their end of the year gift cards when you can purchase a $100 dollar gift card valued at $120. If you refer a friend, you also get 20 off your services. I have taken advantage of that...
Read moreAfter the pandemic began a lot of beauty places were closed. I did my research and found Shoba SoHo. Now mind you, I was a little apprehensive because I had been going to someone previously for a number of years and that person no longer came back to work so you have to start with someone new and build that trust.
The day I met Francis was the day I knew I no longer needed to continue my research. Before I even talk about Francis, let me tell you how warm and inviting it was to come through the door and have been greeted by some of the nicest people I’ve met in a very long time.
I then met Francis and she was Exceptional!!! Now, ladies, you know what it’s like to not have been waxed for several months and what that entails and I certainly won’t go into detail. Francis knew exactly what to do and to calm my for lack of a better word fears of screaming and chasing away every client. It was one of the most seamless, painless experiences I have ever gone through.
I have now been going to Shobha SoHo for the better part of three years and I have never looked back. In addition to Francis‘s expertise, she is one of the most thorough and fastest waxers I have ever come across. Now ladies, I know you must think that fast is equated to not thorough, but take it from me and I am a stickler about being thorough, Francis is A#1.
I can’t recommend Shobha SoHo any more strongly that I have in the past review, but take it from me ladies, if you want one of the best waxes of your life, don’t waste any time and book an appointment at Shobha...
Read moreEdit 3/6/25: A pleasant, I presume manager? Who I’ll mention just initial to retain privacy, in case, person named V reached out about the pricing tier thing and gave me some options to work through with my package. It was really unexpected but also welcomed and I really appreciated their time. They definitely respect customers and their loyalty. Had me taken aback. Excited to book my next appointment.
Edit 2/8/25: Bista is no longer at Shobha (I’ve been out of the country for 4 years), but I tried Arisa today. She was wonderful. The update to the review is to Shobhas pricing. I’ve had a package for threading, 3 left, which I confirmed with someone on the phone when I called Shobha. This was before there was tiered pricing, which I now see exists. It’s a little irritating because I went to my appointment thinking I’d use one of my packages. When it’s time to check out, I’m told that the threadist is Level 2 therefore cuz price. And Level 1 price is different and what my package is for. Truly wish someone had told me this beforehand. I ended up having to unexpectedly pay today when I thought it’d be coming from my package. There was no offer to rectify anything either. It’s a shame because it didn’t use to be like this. But I guess, capitalism has trickled down even to here. Just updating the review so you’re all aware of their pricing based on threadist and if you have a prepaid package.
Pre edit review: Bista is always fabulous. Staff at check in desk...
