MISLEADING. Do Not Contact this number. I called and asked for their HHA training which is advertised on their Google listing but was informed they “had a list I needed to get on” so was transferred to a DEI hire who claimed they no longer offered HHA certification only a CPA training. I asked her what it stood for and she had no clue what it meant then transferred me to Michelle who said a lot but nothing at all. I informed her I had years of experience as a HHA Home Health Aid but didn’t have certification since my previous employer acquired dementia and I learned how to care for her doing everything from bathing, feeding, diapers, advocate etc and I asked Michelle what a CPA or PCA job description was but she could only say “it did less than a HHA employee” and let me know they only offered Brooklyn Spanish classes (which is odd being in USA) and she made it clear she “was the person overseeing applications and would determine who would get selected and who wouldn’t” condescendingly. I informed her that it was evident we would not get along since she couldn’t explain exactly what a CPA or PCA’s job description was and added that I called their Bronx location not their Brooklyn location. It was extremely disappointing and stressful to say the least. All in all this sounds like a scam for only DEI hires but most importantly leadership is lacking so please be advised. I fear I wouldn’t get taught anything I already know but can’t imagine new applicants with no prior...
Read moreSpecial touch has some good coordinators and some bad ones. Today, Jessica informed me that my mom’s home care will be discontinued because the agency failed to allow enough time for the renewal of services to be processed with the insurance company. Three days before the expiration day is when I was told about this. Basically start running and doing the agency’s job. Special touch did not give me enough time to start reaching out to the insurance for a form that was needed. They are quick to threaten the patients with cutting their services leaving the elderly and disabled without the daily assistance that they are already approved for. If special touch knows that a continuation of care approval is needed by the 31st of the month, why call the patient 3 days before to tell her “you will no longer receive services”. It is unjust and it is negligent. How about 2 weeks ahead?!! My mother is elderly and disabled with a leg amputation. she also has deformities in her limbs. Special touch does not care. I asked Jessica to get in touch with the insurance as requested by them and all I got was excuses. I spend a day sending papers to the insurance which was the responsibility of the agency. I Will proceed to change coordinator as soon as this mess is cleared. In the meantime, my mother is suffering the consequences of incompetence, carelessness, lack of empathy and neglect from special touch. Please get your family a different home...
Read moreThis agency does not care about their patients at all. The home attendants come in and try to sit all day talking on their phones. The coordinators are so rude especially Iris. These coordinators do not even have the courtesy to call you and tell you who they will be sending to your house the next day. Everyday they send someone new without letting you know. When you call to complain about someone not doing their job or coming in late the coordinator will literally tell you what do you expect me to do? Then, when you call to speak to their Supervisors, the supervisors claim they will resolve the problem but they do not follow up or pick up the phone. It saddens my heart that they treat such a vulnerable group of people with no...
