Purchased a full/tailored suit at this location. Staff were 'helpful' but I have never felt like I've been sold so hard on a piece of clothing. I don't mean to be insulting, but this felt like the 'used car salesmen' of clothing. I ended up making the purchase and paid nearly twice what a good tailor in Manhattan charges. Set the pickup date 2 weeks out. Called on the date agreed for pickup around 1130am and was told it would be retrieved from the tailor and ready for pickup by 130 or so. I would receive confirmation. I called again at 3pm and was told it would still be ready, but now at 6pm. Now, at this point, I'm reading between the lines. So I arrive at 640 to give them extra time. When I walk in and state I'm there for pickup, one of the staff runs out the door while arguementatively stating to his colleague that "I'm going right now to pick it up". I waited just over 40 mins to have the employee return with my suit "just finished and pressed" I was told. As if that was supposed to justify the wait. Tried the suit on where I finally noticed 'made in china' on the tag, which is unfortunate. No issue with things being made in China. But that typically indicates inferior quality and lack of craftsmanship. Not exactly something that comforting next to the $720 price tag of your new suit. The armpits were barely adjusted and the pant taper was not narrow enough. I'll chock that up to measurements being taken incorrectly. Or maybe it's the tailor? Not sure but regardless I'm left with the end result. Lots of frayed ends and loose strings in button holes and near seams. Now, I regret my purchase and would return it if I could. But I made my bed so I will lay it in. Buyer, beware. Including a photo of my newly...
Read moreI've ordered a custom suit and four custom shirts which took initially about two months to arrive (they were up front about lead times and I expected that but I bring it up because it's important. Expediting costs extra). The arm lengths on the shirts and the jacket weren't properly tailored at first and I had to send them back. The suit is great now that it's complete and the shirts are nearly perfect. I love the four way stretch and how the tailored shirts fit on my waist, there's no parachute of fabric around my midsection. The customer service is excellent and you get real people helping you along the way. Everyone at both the SOHO and Flatiron locations was super helpful. It made the experience so great even though it wasn't perfect. The shirts still have one defect: the top button on each of the shirts is slightly misaligned with the rest of the buttons; instead of being at 12 o'clock, it's at like 12:05 relative to the line made by the rest of the buttons on the shirt. I've given feedback and worked with them to describe the issue but the tailor was unable to fix it so I've settled for them. When I wear a tie, it hides that top button, so not a big deal, but for what I paid per shirt ($125 for custom tailored shirt) they should be perfect. I won't be ordering custom shirts from them in the future. I did order a second suit though since I was very happy with that. I also bought the navy bomber jacket and am absolutely in love with it. It's super warm and looks great and is made with the same four way...
Read moreIn general the clothing is phenomenal. I'm working on building out a wardrobe with S&L. I have an athletic build and finding cloths that fit perfectly out of the store is difficult. S&L solved a problem that needed to be solved. Huge fan!
Regarding this boutique in NYC, this was a great experience. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful. If you're wanting to just browse, then they will let you just browse. If you're coming in there specifically for something, they are a tremendous help. They have a great seating area. I could have hung out all day and watched football. That's how relaxed the environment is. Great work S&L! I live in Florida, and I have visited your store every time I've been in NYC, and that...
