The store was overall pretty nice and I was greeted as soon as I came in. You could say that the staff wasn't overbearing, but that's because they didn't check in on me at all after the initial greeting. Tried on a few shorts, got a little mixed up at the register and mistakenly purchased the wrong pair. Not a big deal, though! I certainly didn't double check until I got home, so that's also my mistake.
I went in the next day to exchange them for the pair I'd initially wanted and the person helping me at the register was a bit passive aggressive when I told them that I was rung up for the wrong item and needed to exchange it. They checked the item and my receipt and said I was rung up for the correct item. While it is factually accurate that the associate helping me previously rung me up for the SKU associated with the shorts that I had paid for, the mistake was in that those weren't the shorts that I had said I wanted. Okay, so let me try this again—"I want to do an exchange because I got an item I did not want by mistake." Rather shortly, they say, "That's a completely different thing." Okay please just do an exchange, I don't need your sass, I just want to do a simple exchange. Thanks. I realize that had your associate handed me a different item than what they had scanned, that would be an issue with inventory and the transaction to get the correct item would have been different. But I don't think it takes much to understand that I just need to do an exchange.
Other than that, the store was well-merchandised and easy to navigate. Fitting rooms were...
Read moreTL;DR: Good products, terrible customer service.
Earlier today I brought in a jacket that I had purchased just a few weeks back. After wearing it once (yes, once), it already had down coming out. Having owned many down jackets over the years, I appreciate this is completely normal and an eventuality after a few wears, but not immediately after purchasing and wearing only once. (Of course, if this is the new standard for Patagonia, let me know and I’ll lower my expectations accordingly.)
I was otherwise very happy with the jacket, so figured this was a dud and that I’d just swap it out for another. Easy enough, right? Nope. The representative at this location, Anna, was far from helpful. Refusing the exchange, she explained several times that this is to be expected, to which I responded several times that I agree - but again, not immediately after purchasing. The broken record back-and-forth - with her condescendingly “educating” me on how down jackets work - became so absurd to the point that I eventually just asked for a return and refund, and walked down the street to The North Face and Arc'teryx.
Patagonia, seriously? When you have an otherwise happy customer, should it really be this difficult to make a simple exchange for a simple reason a few weeks after the...
Read moreHelp! Since my teenage years, I've been a fan of the Patagonia brand and have been using their products for a long time.
However, recently, the president of Patagonia in Japan has changed, and they seem to be trying to exclude overweight people from the Patagonia brand in order to enhance its image. Previously, they offered sizes up to XXL on the Patagonia JAPAN ONLINE STORE, but now, many products are only available up to XL size.
While some items still display XXL sizes, they are rarely available for purchase. To buy XXL-sized products from Patagonia JAPAN ONLINE STORE, I have to register for reminders when new products are listed and wait for restock notifications, then quickly make the purchase when they become available.
Furthermore, the color options are limited, unlike the colorful choices available in the United States. In Japan, Patagonia only offers basic colors like black, gray, white, and navy.
While other companies may prioritize sales, this approach does not seem to align with Patagonia's mission and values.
In Japan, I hope for improvements that align with Patagonia's values - being environmentally conscious, considering fair trade practices, and maintaining their reputation as a brand known for...
