My husband started Aquatic Therapy at Sutton Physical and Aquatic Therapy in June of 2024. First of all, their Therapist Tony is a Miracle Worker. Prior to coming to Sutton Place Therapy, my husband received Physical and Occupational Therapy (at multiple facilities) for his right side which had no movement since his stroke in 2020. The therapists at the other facilities told him his arm would never get better and as a result stopped the occupational therapy. The physical therapy continued with some improvement in his strength. However, after coming to Sutton Physical and Aquatic therapy, Tony worked his arm and leg and now my husband can actually hold his arm in place whereas before it just dangled to his side. He has better control of his steps with his right leg. Every day I see him getting better and stronger. He had given up hope that he would get better and become more independent, but Sutton Physically and Aquatic Therapy has given us not just hope, but they’re proving that Miracles do happen and I am witnessing the miracle of my husband’s neurological condition improving significantly. He is now able to walk without as much difficulty or assistance as before. He’s controlling his arm and not allowing it to hang to his side. He’s now actually excited about his recovery, unlike before as he was unenthusiastic. As a result, he now wants to get out of bed and out of the house.
To the People of Sutton Physical and Aquatic Therapy, I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to you all for all that you do to make miracles like this happen. You are True Heroes and I cannot thank you enough.
Thank you for giving my husband hope in getting his life back. True...
Read moreI was delighted to find Sutton Place Physical Therapy back in late 2019 when I was recovering from balance and gait issues due to a stroke combined with a genetic balance and gait issue. I needed to work with a therapist trained in dealing with neurological issues and needed individual therapy so that my visits would be working with a therapist who would stay with me for the entire visit. Sutton Place Physical Therapy was able to provide the attention I needed and the staff is wonderfully helpful and knowledgeable. Once the pandemic hit I stopped going (although they remained open) but I made the decision to start working with them again several months ago. They keep the premises immaculate and clean all work areas after each person’s visits. With the help of my specific therapist and the exercises we do at my sessions along with the exercises he has given me to do at home I have made incredible progress and am feeling much more like my pre-stroke self. I do have aides but instead of walking indoors with a cane and outside with a walker with my aides — I now walk outdoors with a cane instead of a walker and can even go places with my friends with a cane — something that I never thought would be possible again. After being quite debilitated before starting with Sutton Place Physical — I now feel like I have a new lease on life and am looking forward to my continued progress. It’s about practicing no matter how challenging the exercise — and I am getting better — and am thrilled that this facility is available and recommend...
Read moreCarol helped my 8-year-old son to overcome chronic constipation and encopresis with which he had struggled for four years. In the span of six months, he went from taking Miralax daily, frequent "leaks", and painful bowel movements, to being medication and leak-free with daily bowel movements. The shift in his mood and confidence has also been dramatic. Before finding Sutton Place, we had consulted books, therapists, pediatricians and GI specialists. Despite a number of tests, no one found anything physically wrong, and everyone recommended Miralax and more Miralax. Carol listened to us and assured us that she could teach my son how to strengthen his pelvic floor muscles and tune in more to his body and its needs. Through weekly sessions, she found friendly and playful ways to do this. My son looked forward to the appointments! She also helped us to identify and eliminate a couple of foods from his diet that could contribute to constipation. I often reached out between appointments to ask for her advice, and she answered me in a prompt and caring way. She even met with my son's teachers and guidance counselor to help them support him in having access to a private bathroom when he needed. I felt that she was truly supporting and advocating for him. I would like other families and children who may be struggling with constipation and encopresis to know that it is solvable and it can be done without Miralax. We are so grateful to Carol Stillman and her team at Sutton Place Physical Therapy for guiding us through such a...
