This place is the place to go if you want any kind of specialized modeling or molding compound in NYC, they definitely have the best selection around. However, my personal experience getting help and advice with a project from their sales assistants was terrible, and they were either out of or had low stock of everything I wanted. I came in a couple of weeks ago to purchase some sort of compound for a project that would let me create large fake blocks of ice with objects imbedded in them. I didn't know exactly what to get and I talked to three different sales assistants, all of whom had a different opinion, and they finally called someone who I assume was the manager out of the back and he told me to get a specific product (smooth-on sorta clear 40), of which I bought two large kits. The product I initially wanted to get I was talked out of, everyone insisted it couldn't be unmolded and would fall apart instantly (encapso-k). Needless to say the product they sold me looked terrible and was completely unusable, I wasted $140 on one kit and returned the other one the next day and bought all of the the encapso-k they had, which wasn't a lot since they were low in stock. It worked perfectly and looked amazing and I had no trouble with unmolding or stability. I also checked the encapso-k website later and they have a video tutorial where they put an inclusion inside some encapso-k and then unmold it and carve it to look like a block of fake ice! I hope that someone else can learn from my expensive lesson: do your own research first because the 'experts' in the shop do not necessarily know all.

First time ever in a place like this and the experience was a blast! The selections are incredible with all the media you would ever need. Zoe and James were very nice and really went out of their way to help me. They set me up with my first sandstone and set of tools! Wish I lived here so I could take the classes!

Awesome store, with TONS of raw stone options. Staff was super super friendly, and helpful. Prices are great for even the marble. Large selection of tools, including the dremel and 1/4" rotary burrs

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the team at Compleat Sculptor. Recently, I ordered supplies for a class that starts next week. I was pleased to see that my items shipped the same day. However, when they arrived, FedEx mistakenly delivered the package to the wrong address—this was no fault of Compleat Sculptor.

When I struggled to reach a live operator at FedEx, I turned to Compleat Sculptor for help. Zoe went above and beyond in assisting me; she quickly filed a claim with FedEx on my behalf. To my surprise, they not only addressed the issue promptly but also completely refilled my order and shipped a new one that same day.

I am incredibly thankful for the outstanding customer service at Compleat Sculptor. Their dedication to their customers is an example of why I choose to shop with...

This place has the cleanest bathroom I've seen ina public establishment. Seriously it's cleaner than most restaurants I've been too. Sounds weird to start off a review like this, but honestly it's just a microcosm of the experiences you will have at this place. The staff are super helpful, and I don't mean like a Walmart greater getting payed by the platitude. They are always quick to help, if any individual can't answer your question, they'll find some one who can.the prices. . . Well that's a weird one because this store really is unique in new York, but compared to prices online they fit right about the middle so far for the things I buy. But over all shopping here is always a great experience. Will recommend...
