GLUR THAI, it's a teeny-tiny cafe, essentially a 25 seat joint. They say they don't take reservations, but trust me, if there's a party of 4 or more, they will take a reservation. We had 4 in our party and a party of 8 behind us, both reservations. The place barely had room for the waitstaff. A guy on a date was overheard complaining that he wanted to have a birthday party there but was told no reservations, and the waiter said, "did you say big party coming?" We can do... Anyway- a mixed high-maintenance company at our table, meat eater, seafood eater, vegan, shrimp allergy. Apps: tofu satay was firm, peanutty, and served in three 4 inch pieces. Calamari was very tender, not spicy, just enough for 4 to share. Curry puffs! Yes the best thing about Thai and Malaysian apps, stuffed with chicken & veggie, 3 in an order, served deep fried to a puffy golden color. Tamarind duck was pronounced a winner by duck lover guy, and "meh", by duck take-it-or-leave-it guy. It looked a bit over-done to my eye. Chicken red curry in a bowl was quickly passed around the table until nothing was left. Moist white meat chicken, veggies, perfectly not-to-spicy red curry sauce, made to be poured over rice. Pad see ew was standard with chow fun noodles, but the addition of squid elevated it to worthy of fighting over. It's a very warming and satisfying noodle dish, and quite mild. We had outlasted the date night crowds, and the place quieted down, so we ordered the 2 desserts on the menu. Coconut pudding served in 2 tiny sake-sized cups, bubbling hot. Sticky rice with bananas in palm leaf, 2 small pieces. Sweet as hell, if you've had Bananas Foster, this is it's simple Asian cousin, without the flames. Well crafted food, the kitchen takes it's time. Clean as a whistle. No rushing the check or hovering. Great date night spot if you don't want to hear your...
Read moreGlur Thai offers a delightful culinary journey for those seeking authentic Thai flavors with a vegetarian twist. During my recent visit, I was impressed by the extensive menu, which caters generously to both vegetarian and vegan palates—something that is often hard to find in Thai cuisine. We started our meal with the vegan curry puffs appetizer. These were perfectly crispy on the outside and filled with a savory blend of spices and vegetables, setting a promising tone for the rest of our dining experience. The Khao Soi with mock duck was a standout dish, boasting a rich, creamy coconut curry broth that enveloped the noodles and mock duck beautifully. The flavors were well-balanced, offering a comforting warmth with every bite. The Crab Oab Woosen, although not vegetarian, was another highlight, showcasing the restaurant's ability to deliver diverse and flavorful dishes. For those who prefer plant-based options, the menu does not disappoint. On previous visits, I have tried the impossible larb and the vegan Khao Soi, both of which were exceptional in taste and presentation. However, the green curry with mock duck, while visually appealing, fell slightly short in flavor, leaning towards the bland side. It could benefit from a bit more seasoning to elevate the dish to the same level as its counterparts. Overall, Glur Thai is a gem for those who appreciate a variety of vegetarian and vegan options without compromising on authentic Thai flavors. The ambiance is inviting, and the staff is attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. Whether you're a vegetarian, vegan, or simply a lover of Thai cuisine, Glur Thai promises a satisfying meal that will leave you eager to return and explore more of their diverse offerings. Highly recommended for anyone in search of a unique and flavorful Thai...

While both sake options are excellent, I highly recommend trying the hot sake for an added warmth and depth of flavor that perfectly complements the rich and spicy Thai dishes.
