I absolutely love Kimono House. Yumiko-san is the absolute sweetest person you'll ever meet. Ever since I shopped here years ago for the very first time for my first vintage silk Kimono, I can never shop anywhere else for my Kimono needs. I highly recommend stopping by this cute little shop. She has a lot of gems that are so unique and beautifully made. There is a variety of Kimonos, Yukatas, and accessories. You really need to love the Japanese culture and give it a chance to understand why certain pieces are the price point they are. To make a beautiful Kimono is not easy and very rare these days. A brand new made Kimono can cost thousands of dollars even in Japan because of the craftsmanship and skills being put into making the Kimono. High quality silk Kimonos are not mass produced by machine and are still being made by skilled Kimono craftsmen and craftswomen. There are more affordable Kimono options in this shop that are usually vintage/antique just like in Japan. Yumiko-san picks the most beautiful antique/vintage Kimonos and have them at a very reasonable price. One thing to consider, Kimonos give off the impression that its a one size fit all. However, Kimonos do actually come in different sizes. Vintage and antique Kimonos back in the day are usually made smaller but, Yumiko-san is very skilled in choosing a variety of sizes that can fit almost anyone that visits. Since Kimonos are so well made (can be delicate if made of silk) they last years to come when you take care of them. Yumiko-san also provides lessons if anyone is interested in learning the art of Kimono dressing. If you are thinking about purchasing your first Kimono, I would highly recommend you visit Yumiko-san at...
ย ย ย Read moreI came here to rent a kimono for my wedding (I'm half Japanese). Yumiko-san was incredibly attentive and helpful, allowing me to try on several amazing kimono while taking my preferences into consideration. In fact, when she had a new shipment, she emailed me immediately to let me know that she had received one that was exactly what I had in mind. I tried it on, she paired the obi and other details to it - and I had my perfect wedding kimono!! She was incredibly generous in the rental time, provided all the pieces I needed and even went so far as to provide my mother lessons in kimono dressing so that she could properly dress me for the wedding day! The whole experience was lovely and the kimono was absolutely stunning. Once I get the professional photos, I hope to update this review! I would absolutely come here again and recommend for anyone looking for a kimono, yukata or just some cool vintage Japanese pieces for...
ย ย ย Read moreI already had a full yukata set that I bought when I was in Japan. However, I wanted my boyfriend to have one too so that we could match. Everything in the store is from Japan, so the quality matched the one I had. They have a good selection for men (most stores only carry kimono for women), the prices are what they should be. The kimono were about $85, the geta shoes $50, and they even had hakama pants (although I don't know the price). So yeah, it's a bit much, but it's what you should be paying considering the quality.
What really sold this place for me was the service! It's a small store that can seem crowded very quickly, but the people treat every person as if they are the only people in the store. They are constantly pulling out more options for you until you fall in love.
Will definitely go to in...
