My son has been doing kickboxing/karate at this TS dojo for a few months after having done Tae Kwon Do and Ju Jitsu at a couple different dojos in the past. TS Rego Park is hands down the best martial arts instruction we have ever been to. Joshu George is phenomenal, knows every student by name, runs a tight class no matter how many students, and empowers the kids to do their best work no matter the circumstances.
The Sensei who runs the dojo is excellent too - he explained their philosophy of teaching the kids to handle their business themselves on day one, which I really appreciated. He always greats the kids with a fist bump and knows every student's name by heart as well. The dojo manager is wonderful as well, always super helpful and friendly when the kids come in.
One of my favorite things about this dojo is that they focus on a very small move set - literally like 6 moves, and repeat them over and over to try and perfect them. At the age of these kids are at, it's absolutely the best teaching strategy. Kids who have been throwing a jab, cross, hook combo still occasionally mess it up, and that's OK - that's why they work on perfection.
Couldn't be happier here. A little expensive, yes. But worth...
Read moreI've definitely gotten emotionally strong enough to say that this Tiger Schulmann's marked the genesis of my kickboxing and combat training. It really was the beginning of it all. I was 16 years old in the summer of 2017. I had just started everything over in my life and had began my journey into the world of martial arts and boxing training. I wanted an awesome place to start, so I spoke with my father and he had enrolled me for a total beginner's class at Tiger Schulmann's. I never felt so inspired and motivated when I had actually met the honorary Sensei Mike and he taught me how to properly strike a heavy bag. He taught me how to shadowbox, different stances in combat sports, and other movements. I started training there for the majority of junior year of high-school, leading into 2018. Unfortunately- I had begun to guess that it was because of a mixture of my lack of balance and total excitement, as well as other things that were going on my life, I had discontinued training there for a while. It was my fault. I'll never forget it... It has...
Read moreI can not say enough good things about this place! Sensei Mike and everyone else that works here are awesome! It's a great workout, better than any treadmill or other typical gym class. It's not just about being a great workout though, you are learning proper technique and building confidence while getting a full body cardio workout.
Sensei Mike and the other instructors truly care about their students, both the kids and adults. If you have an injury or other health issue, they help you work around it, find modifications so that you can still benefit from the class. If you are having difficulty with a technique or exercise, they will work with you, make corrections so that you can get it right.
I've seen some negative reviews here, some of which complain about the cost. I will say this, you get what you pay for. Sure you can find a cheap gym to go to, but you will not find the same quality in a cheap gym, you will not get the personalized attention that you deserve. The quality of the classes and instructors at Tiger Schulmann's Rego Park...
