Dr. Alani performed the Tenex procedure to remove scar tissue along my achilles on September 2022. She had used an x-ray of my tendon to diagnose the problem. Almost 3 months post-surgery, I was still experiencing pain and was unable to walk normally. During one of my follow ups with Dr Alani in December 2022, she said I had a bone spur. Given that she had not ordered an MRI prior to my procedure, I asked her whether she thought she had missed the bone spur because I had not had an MRI, she said no. During that visit, Dr Alani uttered the most appalling words I had ever heard from any doctor, she said she is going to be blunt with me, she did not know that I had a bone spur because had she done the surgery for a bone spur vs the Tenex, Christmas would have come early for her, she would have gotten a bigger payout for the surgery for the bone spur versus the surgery she'd performed on me. I told her outside of the financial gain she would have enjoyed for doing the surgery for the bone spur, my concern is the health of my foot. What is her plan of action for getting my foot back to normal? She gave me a few packets of PENNSAID and said apply them 3 times a day until my follow up with her in 2 weeks when would administer a cortisone shot for the bone spur, she requested that my physical therapist only perform manual therapy, and gave me 2 heel lifts to place in my shoes. Given Dr Alani's disgustingly "blunt" statement about the payout she would have gotten for the surgery for the bone spur, the fact that she tried to encourage me to have the tenex procedure done 2 weeks before an international trip to which I objected because I didn't think I would be healed although she said I would be fine, the fact that she wanted me to pose with a ziplock bag of my scar tissue post-procedure and be recorded saying "Tenex!" to which I objected and said can I at least wait to see if the procedure was successful before I speak to the effectiveness of the procedure, and the fact that 2 plus months post-Tenex procedure I was still experiencing pain and not able to walk normally, I did not trust her, cancelled my follow up, and sought a second opinion from another podiatrist who ordered an MRI for my right ankle. The results of the MRI revealed that the bone spur that Dr Alani was so confident that I had was in fact a ganglion cyst, I also have multiple tears along my achilles tendon, and I have retrocalcaneal bursitis. So, Dr Alani would have given me a cortisone shot for a problem I did not have and possibly increase the rupture I currently have because cortisone shots can increase risk of tendon ruptures. I am grateful that Dr Alani's blunt and disgusting words pushed me to seek another opinion. To anyone reading this, my advice is to never allow any doctor to say you will be able to walk normally 2 weeks after any procedure even if it is minimally invasive. If you are going to agree to have a procedure performed on you for any issue, seek a second or third opinion. If you have not healed from a procedure within the timeframe that most individuals heal, seek a second and third opinion. It is your health and no one will care for your health as...
Read moreI was treated between the midtown and downtown locations by Dr Alani (who did the initial assessment and performed a stem cell injection) and Dr Koprince (who took over after the injection). I sprained my ankle in March 2021 and two months later, the pain was not going away despite following the RICE protocol. An MRI showed I had a peroneal tendon tear. I shared early on my goal to race a marathon at the end of September 2021 and this was taken into consideration for the recovery plan. I chose a stem cell injection over surgery and it paid off nicely. Dr Alani presented both options and performed the procedure. From there onwards, all the timelines I was given by Dr Koprince were spot on. I started in a boot, then had an ankle brace, and finally orthotics. She dealt with the swelling around the ankle and helped with making it go away. Dr Koprince also gave me things to look forward to, sharing what the next steps would be (swim, run a mile at a time, run three, run five and lastly pick up the mileage to prepare for the marathon). She also addressed all my questions and reserves around experiencing pain. For instance, it was not comfortable to run with the ankle brace so she suggested compression sleeves. She was cheerful and celebrated the weekly wins genuinely. Overall, I highly recommend this practice. Both Dr Koprince and Alani are extremely knowledgeable and adapt to the needs of their patients. Important detail: I was able to race a marathon at the end of September and beat my PB. Dr Koprince was...
Read moreDr. Alani has been a blessing to me during a long period of being injured.
I had both a broken sesamoid and a torn plantar plate as well as a neuroma in my foot. As a very athletic person and a flight attendant these injuries tremendously impacted the quality of my life and and were hard for me to manage on several levels both personally and professionally but doctor Alani really cares not just about feet but about the person attached to them and worked with me to create treatment plans that felt manageable for me and kept my lifestyle in mind.
It's been about a year since my initial injury (broken sesamoid, plantar plate tear, neuromas). Doctor Alani suggested a stem cell injection as a final measure to avoid a surgery that would've been really tough for me and I decided to try it. My MRI just came back a few days ago and there is no tear detected and the pain I had become so used to has essentially disappeared! Such incredible results! For my neuroma which is, hopefully my last source of pain, cryotherapy was the solution.
I can’t recommend Dr. Alani and all of the doctors and team members at To Healthy Feet highly enough. They are just so pleasant and so helpful. This location downtown for To Health Feet is super modern and very convenient. There is coffee and tea in the waiting area and usually biscoff cookies.
If you live work in the area, or even if you don't, I would recommend To Healthy Feet for any and all foot problems. Honestly, I wish more people told me about their foot issues so I could...
