I’d like to be fair in my assessment as it’s rare for me to give less than 4 or 5 stars on my experience. However, I think a fair review should alert owners of the establishment so they do better moving forward.
This was our first experience in a “chipotle style”‘west African restaurant but we are not new to Nigerian cuisine. The energy wa uninviting as we were trying to figure out how things worked. There was no eagerness to help or guide from the staff member working
We ordered double jollof for both bowls because the Cole slaw didn’t look appetizing and the staff member refused to explain how it was made for us to get an idea of the taste or flavor
I got double goat and my partner got double chicken because a single serving was barely 4 small pieces which didn’t make sense with the amount of rice in the bowl
The double goat and double chicken bowl came to $51. Now, the double goat bowl, I am assuming is around $25, then it was worth the expense. However, the chicken bowl shouldn’t have been more than $18 TOPS and that’s with tax. Because it’s just chicken and not a more expensive meat and it wasnt more than what Chipotle (the actual chain) would give you.
Over all, the food was great tasting, the prices were off for the double chicken bowl.. however the lack luster unwelcoming service is for sure why we won’t be back. The woman serving us made us feel like where she was, was the absolute last place she wanted to be on earth and her demeanor, attitude and...
Read moreI ordered the vegan fiesta bowl, extra akara, extra plantains and extra efo riro (stewed leafy greens). I left 1 star because the beans and rice especially the beans was not cooked well. The beans were kinda crunchy. The extras that I ordered all came with just enough to put in the palm of my small hand…for the price I paid it should’ve been more. Very skimpy and stingy with dishing out the food. I didn’t enjoy the food at all but I was at work and ate it because I was so hungry and I really didn’t have any other choice as I was on a timed lunch break. The spinach wasn’t good either it was watery and too spicy. Who cuts up plantain in such tiny pieces?? Seems like this establishment is trying their best to ration the amount of food they serve to people. Why even have a business if you can’t give quality food and serve adult size instead of a children meal?? It was not a delicious meal. I ate what I could. Wish I had taken pictures before...
Read moreOrdering through their website was seamless. Nice photographs of the food selections. The actual food vs what’s shown on the site is a bit misleading in terms of quantity and specificity. Let me explain. I went with the “build-your-own” which I appreciated. After I picked up my order, the first thing I noticed was my bag was light. I just ordered 50 dollars worth of food. I opened the bag only to realize the bowls were small. I felt like I just ordered a kids meal. They were not generous with portions. The “ata dindin” was pretty much stew and not fried stew as the menu suggests. The jollof was to me, basic. I ordered the spring mix but I got a side spinach leaves I expected a mix of vegetables. My “moi moi” looked pale. The Akara was awesome! That said I do appreciate the business and what it’s trying to do with Nigerian food. The owners seem to have a working system but the quality of food still needs improvement to keep...
