FOOD SAFETY ISSUE, BRUSHED OFF TWICE. I’m genuinely glad there’s a new Whole Foods Daily Shop in the neighborhood. It’s well-maintained, convenient, and has a great selection. I’ve shopped there many times and wanted to see it succeed. But today, I noticed the potatoes looked visibly green - even before checking out, I flagged it to a staff member. I was told “it’s edible” and brushed off. When I got home and peeled both potatoes I purchased, I saw the green went deep under the skin, which, as anyone with basic food safety knowledge knows, can indicate high levels of solanine, a toxic compound. That’s not safe, especially if you’re serving this to kids, elderly family members, or anyone with health sensitivities. I went back and raised the concern with the manager. He refused to apologize for the negligence, claimed he “wasn’t familiar with that fact” and needed to “check,” yet in the same breath offered to start covering the potatoes to reduce light exposure. That contradiction alone tells me he wasn’t being straight with me. I also asked what the plan was for training staff, so they stop casually dismissing legitimate concerns by telling customers food is “edible” when it clearly may not be. He made it clear that staff training is his thing, and the tone implied I had no right to raise that question - even though the staff gave misinformation and clearly needs better guidance. This isn’t about the $1.50. It’s about how both staff and management dismissed a clear food safety issue with zero accountability. I expected better - especially from a store that positions itself as a standard-bearer for quality. Very disappointed in how they handled this, and how little concern they showed for customer safety.

Missing CRITICAL feature: amazon returns. It’s got my pizza, got my cookies, got my kombucha…. It’s pretty, but overall it’s a disappoint because of the choice to omit such helpful part of the WF and Amazon experience.

Review for Denisse – Whole Foods Customer Service Superstar

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Whole Foods, where I was assisted by an extraordinary employee named Denisse. Her exceptional professionalism and attention to detail truly stood out during my shopping experience, making a significant impact on my overall enjoyment and satisfaction.

Her genuine approach to customer service set the tone for the rest of my visit. Denisse's ability to anticipate my needs and provide tailored assistance was akin to a seasoned professional, ensuring that my shopping experience was seamless and efficient. Her knowledge about the products was impressive, and she took the time to explain the benefits of the items, which was incredibly helpful.

Denisse's attention to detail was evident in everything she did. Whether it was recommending complementary products, or addressing any concerns I had, her meticulous approach left no room for error. I felt confident in her guidance and appreciated her thoroughness in ensuring that my questions were answered and my needs met.

While interacting with Denisse, it became clear to me that her skills are underutilized in her current position. She possesses a natural talent for leadership and an ability to inspire those around her. Her calm demeanor, coupled with exceptional organizational skills, would undoubtedly make her a valuable asset in a managerial role.

I couldn't help but compare her to another impressive employee I encountered at the 96th Street Branch, who ultimately turned out to be the store manager lol. Both share a remarkable commitment to excellence and customer service, yet Denisse brought an additional warmth and personalized touch that I believe would thrive in a leadership position. Her potential for growth within Whole Foods is undeniable, and it would be a tremendous loss not to recognize and develop her capabilities further.

Considering Denisse's outstanding capabilities and the positive impact she has on customers, I strongly recommend that she be considered for a promotion. Elevating her to a managerial role would not only harness her skills for a greater purpose but also enhance the overall shopping experience for all customers lucky enough to cross paths with her. Whole Foods has the opportunity to further cultivate an exceptional employee in Denisse, and I am confident she would excel and continue to exceed expectations in a leadership capacity.

In summary, Denisse is a customer service star who should not go unnoticed. Her professionalism, attention to detail, and potential for a managerial role make her an indispensable asset to Whole Foods. Her dedication to providing an outstanding shopping experience deserves recognition and reward, and I urge Whole Foods to consider her for well-deserved career...

I live in the neighborhood and was very excited to see a closer Whole Foods outlet available. I'm usually at the Columbus Circle store. My past experiences with all Whole Foods locations had been love, hate. As a queer person of color and trans, the racial profiling can be very strong and obvious. The Columbus Circle location started that way. Over time, I see the same staff and it feels that the " watch dogs" have eased off. I have had some discussions with the staff that has gotten heated. Like today, on 6/22/2025 at 7:48 am. A bit of back story, I'm a senior, 66 years of age, healthy, thriving trans Latina. The new location at 50th Street has an employee of color that has tailgated me twice. She stands there ready to take my cart prematurely. Today she wanted to also add bags while I am bagging my items. I asked that she allow me to finish. She stood close enough while I was finishing bagging my items to make me uncomfortable. I asked her to please leave me alone. Allow me to finish, I'll take my cart to the exit. I also asked her that in the future, please leave me alone. Allow me to shop without shadowing me. The young woman had much to say and became quite defensive. Security asked me to finish along and exit. I do not like this shadowing, it's invasive and discriminatory. This is a constant in all Whole Foods locations. I have to pray before going into these stores that I'm not triggered by the racial profiling. I have a right to shop with peace and dignity. Please see attached...
