Lovely selection! Peculiar operating practices.

Their selection of writing implements and papers/notebooks was excellent, but many of the items did not have prices marked. Some items (especially their greeting cards) bore price tags, and some had labels or signs nearby indicating their price, but for the majority of items in the shop, I could find no indication of price whatsoever.

I figured that was fine since at least I would see the itemized prices on the receipt, but I realized once I got home that there was none in my bag, and I had not been offered the options of text/email/paper/none (or even "would you like your receipt?"). I readily admit that I could (and should!) have asked for clarity on prices and/or for a receipt prior to leaving, but I was frankly so disoriented by the strangeness of it all that I just went along with it until it was too late.

Without a receipt, and without knowing the prices of several of the items I selected, I easily could have been double-charged, or charged for items I did not purchase, without realizing. Not saying they did this (again, no way of knowing!), but overall I'm left feeling a bit scammed, especially since without any kind of receipt I can't even return my purchases...

Store was clean and well designed. Staff were friendly and helpful (even though I do not look like a stationary kinda person and came in sweaty with my skateboard)

I primarily looked at fountain pens and ink, as well as paper. The pens were competitively priced and there was a surprisingly expansive selection for such a smaller retail location. Largely budget/entry level pens (around $30) with a couple more expensive/fancy options from the more popular companies. The wall of pens is amazing and had lots of gel and rollerball and fine liners and felt tip and brush pens. Also calligraphy nibs and nib holders, as well as ink for both. Fantastic selection of paper including the best imports (clairfontaine and maruman!) and cute cards.

Yours Truly, Brooklyn is my stationery heaven. I’ve been to so many looking for my next favorite pen, and thought I’d be disappointed again for the umpteenth time. I’m so glad I was mistaken!

Alicia and Anna (I hope I got your names right!) we’re so incredibly sweet and helpful, and they were able to fulfill my requests for finding a new set of journal pens that really just hit the spot. They were quick to point out their personal favorites and enthusiastically regaled me with their own tips and tricks to getting the most enjoyment out of my new fancy writing instruments.
