Zumiez — Local services in New York

I would avoid this retailer. On Dec 24th I went to return an item that I had purchased; the item was unused, and I had the receipt, also well within the return period. The sales associate processed my return and then began asking me for my personal information (name, phone number, email, address). I got very confused, and asked her why she needed that information; she said its store policy.

I said to her, if I have the receipt and the product is unused/unopened why do you need all my personal information. She told me if I wanted my refund, I have to give my information. I am a very private person and i don't like giving out my information to companies, because they start sending you flyers/spam.

At this point either another associate/ mgr steps in and says its Zumiez policy, and they do it at 5 Below too, she could have asked you for your ID but didn't, she trying to do you a favor!

I definitely wanted my money back, and the only way I was getting it was to give my personal info to them. Sure enough, before I even got back to my car from the mall, I had a spam email from Zumiez telling me I was in some rewards club and to thank me for shopping there.

Never going back. They wouldn't give me a refund unless I shared my personal info with them. They never asked me this upon purchase or informed me of...

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Pretty sure their RACISTS. There was this one white lady who didn't want to put in the buy 1 get 1 free promo in the store for me, saying that she had put the discount in but I did the math and she didn't. Doubt she's that slow in the head after asking her 3 times if the promo was included in the price or not and then she finally adds it because I was still waiting for her to put it in. Visited this location on Sunday to process some returns.. when I arrived, a male manager (I was so upset I didn’t catch his name) told me he was unable to process my returns due to the store not making any money that day & that my returns would put him in the “negative”.. even though my returns were credit.
