What a magical place! 5 stars is not enough. I'm not someone who typically writes reviews but they truly deserve it.
First of all, this place is absolutely gorgeous and has an amazing vibe from the second you walk in. I booked a Birthday package for myself, and two guests. When we arrived we were checked in at the front desk and escorted to the Sanctuary room (I think that's what its called). GORGEOUS !!! I loved the way it was set up, all the beautiful plants, candles, the relaxing ocean sounds, plus it also smells divine. You will really forget you are in the heart of Manhattan. This is the perfect place to add to your self care routine or if you just want to splurge on yourself once in awhile. I was completely transported to another world and having to go back into the NYC streets after was a harsh reality check. I could've stayed there forever.
We each booked the Royal me package (massage, facial, mani and pedi), I did not get my nails done so the manager kindly extended my massage but, based on what I was told by my mom and sister, Shova was a star and my mother is still talking about the wonderful leg massage she gave! The birthday packages also come with light Hors d'oeuvres, and a cake (which was really good, we were shocked at how delicious it was!) I also received a gift which I won't spoil for anyone hoping to book but, I will say it was two full size products. The gift also came with a handwritten Birthday card, which was such a sweet touch. The ladies with me also received smaller gifts to take home. We also really enjoyed taking pictures to remember the occasion in the little selfie area they have. We loved the different backgrounds and props.
All of the ladies were wonderful. I believe Anna did my hydrofacial and that was probably my favorite part. I've worked at a dermatologist for years so I'm very picky and nervous when letting new people do treatments on my face but, she was so sweet and thorough, I was completely at ease. It was the best facial I've ever had, it was so relaxing I even fell asleep. My skin is still glowing and her extractions were impeccable, she cleared pretty much all the blackheads on my nose and believe me, I had A LOT.
I would also like to give a special thank you to Reneesha at the front desk. She was so sweet and really took care of us form the moment we walked in until the time we left. My Rossini glass was never empty! She checked in with us often and really made sure we had a great experience.
I was slightly surprised at first that you pay for services in advance as I've never had to do that before but, I understand why this is a requirement and actually liked that after my relaxing day, you can just tip the ladies and head home. ZZ Day Spa is a little gem in the heart of NYC, and with just a short (10 min) walk from the train and LIRR its super convenient to get to as well. I will definitely come back whenever I have a chance to and cannot recommend it enough. It was an amazing way to spend my birthday and thank you again to all the wonderful ladies...
Read moreVery disappointed in my experience here. I had high expectations after all the glowing reviews but I don't know if it's racism or the reviews are paid for or were incentivized with something, but their rating don't justify what you pay for.
My boyfriend bought me a package so I can take my mom to enjoy a day off. Mom and I have only one day off a week and we came all the way from long island. We entered and no one was at the front desk. We waited for nearly 5 minutes until someone came by and said someone would be with us. Then shortly after all 3 employees that were there brought out a cake for a couple thay was there and sang happy bday. That's great, but did you need all 3 people when clearly you had other customers waiting?
Mom and I got our mimosas and sat down and waited. After about 10 minutes or so, we were taken to our room. The two ladies asked if we had any injuries and proceeded to massage us. Now we made a reservation for a 80 minute deep tissue massage... so why was it that nearly half of the time, we were getting hot stone massages?
Soon, 80 minutes were up, and it felt nice that we were massaged but sure as hell did not feel refreshed or feel as though we had a deep tissue massage.
We went to the front and asked how we should tip the ladies and the front desk lady said we can put it in small enevelops provided and drop it in the metal mail box. The tip envelope had recommended tip amounts depending on what you had done, but of course, I ignored that and gave what I thought was appropriate for the job they did.
Then the front desk lady stood there, bidding us goodbye. I had to be the one to ask about our spa gift that comes with the package. She goes oh and proceeds to check the computer and then brings out soap from behind her on a tray and proceeds to gives me and mom 2 Ferrero rocher chocolates each acting as though it's an amazing thing this place is giving us. She tells us to pick 2 soaps each and then later said oh you can pick 3 each then.
The indulge us package for a total of $500 before tax comes with 80 minutes of massage, drinks, chocolates, rose, and spa gift. We made a reservation in advance, so everything should have been prepped accordingly. Not to mention this place is not cheap, so you're definitely expecting not only good service but proper service. No rose was given as part of our package. The gift was hastily, a last minute, forgotten thought put together attitude. The massage was mediocre at best. You can get a better massage with about $100 elsewhere without the other gimmicks of gift, rose, drinks, chocolate.
I don't recommend this place nor will I return. Waste of money and time.
Vibes - the ambience was nice and definitely felt like you escaped the city a bit... but maybe play other songs instead of the same one on a loop that lasts about 3-5 minutes.
Oh and maybe don't try to upsell customers on a membership package of some kind when you clearly haven't impressed them enough...
Read moreI visited the spa hoping for a relaxing experience, but unfortunately, it didn’t meet my expectations. The staff was incredibly kind, and the ambience was nice—greeting me with a mimosa made a good first impression. However, the massage itself was disappointing. I paid for a hot stone massage but received a regular Swedish massage instead. The masseuse seemed inexperienced, leaving the light on throughout the session and not performing techniques I expected. It felt more like a massage I could have gotten from a partner than a professional spa treatment. For the nearly $200 price point, it wasn’t worth it. I did provide feedback to reception, and they offered to refund the difference between the two services. While I appreciated the gesture and the friendliness of the staff, the overall experience didn’t justify the cost. Two stars, mostly for the staff’s warmth. edit - I’m editing this review to add additional information after the owner, Gary, reached out to personally apologize for my experience. He took the time to contact me directly, both by phone and through a message, to express his regret and offer a solution. Gary was genuinely concerned about the service I received and offered a full refund or a complimentary hot stone massage on my next visit. I opted for the refund, but I was really impressed by how quickly and professionally the issue was handled. It’s rare to see such personal customer service in New York, and it’s clear that Gary and his team care about their customers' experiences. I’ll be giving ZZ Day Spa another chance, as I appreciate the effort they’ve made to make...
