I had an appointment today to have a cut and color. I was greeted by a lady who was not professional. She wasn't rude however she was high energy and lacking clear communication. the student stylist seemed to be lacking confidence and interacted with me in an apologetic manor. This made me have no confidence in her. She conducted a consultation and began to add color. I attempted to make conversation with her however all I could get was she graduates next month. The consultation was conducted with an instructor present who seemed to be knowledgeable and confident. After the color was applied generously to my hair and about an inch beyond my hairline, she shampooed and began to cut. She sought the approval of a different instructor. I noticed staining to my forehead and temples from the color. I had anther consultation with a product specialist. The same person who greeted me at the door. She remained true. Very animated, spoke a lot, didn't really say anything. The procedure was complete. The instructor was asked over to sign off, she complied. I asked the student about the staining to my skin. She replied, it will wash off in a couple days. The student escorts me to the register at the entrance. The cashier asks me about purchasing the products discussed and I said ok. I was then told a total which was substantial. I paid it, got a receipt in a bag and left. At no point did anyone (student stylist, two instructors, product specialist, cashier) say anything about the obvious staining to my forehead and temples. Nor did anyone review charges with me before or after services. I found all of this to be unprofessional. I was asked if I would like to schedule my next appointment. I declined as I doubt they schedule for other salons. My camera is not very good however I have attached a photo of the staining. It looks much...

You may be shocked to find this out, but not everybody uses their real or full name when creating handles. I know, mind blowing right?! I wouldn't waste a single second talking to any of you. What you did to me while I was there is unforgettable and I'll see to it that I let everyone I can know about what a joke of a "school" you are. The only thing I learned at your pathetic excuse of a school was how unprofessional and crazy your teaching staff were. A bunch of little school girls who clearly never left high-school. I felt like I was back in high school all over again having to hear all their ridiculous business that should never have been brought to a school atmosphere but here we are. Have the day you deserve :)
As a former student, please do not go here! If the Cutting instructor Sue(Susan) is still there, run very far! She hacked my hair when I was a student and my entire education was a joke. Try being the same age as some of the instructors.... nothing but a high-school there. The "teachers" are anything but. Please save your money, you are better off learning off YouTube then from this facility. You are just another dollar sign. Not to mention the whole thing is a sham. Their products are no longer what they claim to be. Just start searching the ingredients in their products and if you dig and have a brain, you'll see what I mean. I even had a friend who worked there and she was no longer the same person, arrogant and not the same person I once knew before I started my education there. Very sad what kind of atmosphere they created and it's a slave shop disguised...
Read moreFOR POTENTIAL STUDENTS (Speaking as a past esthetics student) 2 stars because I did, in fact, pass Ohio State Board of Cosmetology testing.
The staff trains you to pass state board. Some were very kind and reasonable, others...even if they weren't your instructor...were extremely unprofessional and wildly out of line. I've heard (in speaking to other professionals in my short career) that no matter where you go, that's a shared experience. However, it seems that if you have the opportunity to go to a cosmetology school that allows you to assist/intern at a salon/spa, that's absolutely what you should do.
Microdermabrasion was almost off the table as it took several months to get the machine fixed, it was almost not fixed and we were told we would have to pay for additional certification if we would like to come back when the machine was fixed. We were taught theory on high frequency and galvanic current, but never application (we were allowed to on each other but it wasn't encouraged?). Makeup is not taught, just expected. Use of the steamer was not generally encouraged?
Things I did not learn: Bikini/Brazilian Wax Brow mapping/shaping Makeup (not an issue for me, but it's expected and not really taught - other than airbrush) Eyelash lift Eyelash extensions (not expected, would have appreciated guidance for additional certification) Brow lamination Dermaplaning (not expected, would have appreciated guidance for additional certification)
Things I did learn: Massage (relaxation only) Facials Facial Waxing Leg / Arm...
