I've been coming here regularly for a couple of months now, and I'm consistently impressed with the staff's competency and friendliness. It's a very demanding type of work (especially the public-facing roles) and they put up with a lot of flak from impatient/disgruntled people, but they maintain an admirable and downright enviable professional stoicism beyond normal human limitations (or at least certainly beyond mine, lol!) and get their jobs done with skill and effectiveness, which is no easy feat.
The only reason I haven't gotten around to writing a happy review sooner is that I kept wanting to confirm more people's names -- but at some point I had to call it or I'd end up listing the entire staff! I've had memorably pleasant interactions with tons of workers here, including but not limited to: Julie, Justin, and Teresa on the medical side; Kayla, Ani, Elaine, and Alejandra at the vitals stations; and Meridian, Miracle, Christina L., and Cody L. in the back, along with several others up front and in back whose names I failed to note. Also, I haven't caught the security guard's name (I've only seen the one, so I'm guessing she's the only one) but I recently saw her firmly-but-gently deescalate a cranky donor with a levelheadedly generous patience that really suits her role (I could never -- I wanted to bite his head off myself lol), and I thought that merited highlighting too.
Yes, donating plasma is a time-consuming process; that's why we're compensated for it. They can't easily predict when things will get crowded. Yeah, the vitals line doesn't have chairs; my personal guess is that that's the area where they see the most violent outbursts and it's better not to have many chairs handy, and/or that there are fire codes or similar rules preventing them from cramming chairs into an area that sometimes gets densely packed. We could all stand to be more aware that there are REASONS behind their procedures, including times when it seems like some staff members aren't doing anything, or times when the vitals line builds up; they have to control the flow of donors in particular ways, and there are legal nuances surrounding who can do what jobs at any given time.
Point is, the staff want everything to move quickly and smoothly just as much as the rest of us do. They're just working stiffs like the rest of us, and we should respond to them as allies, not as adversaries. If anyone wants to complain about long wait times, understaffing, etc, then please, channel that energy toward the actual decisionmakers! For example: Hey CSL corporate, please better support your staff by increasing pay/benefits to retain more people, by installing another bay of machines, and by generally providing the resources they need to keep up with demand. (Also -- my one criticism -- the constantly-breaking/failing soap dispensers in the restrooms are tragic lol, c'mon corporate, someone's gotta upgrade those. EDIT: Hey, they fixed the soap dispensers! Huzzah!)
The staff here do a great job. There's a lot more that goes into effectively and SAFELY running the place than is readily apparent to us donors, and I'm grateful they run things so well here. I hope CSL recognizes their efforts and rewards them accordingly, and I hope more people learn to treat healthcare workers humanely instead of making scenes over minor inconveniences. Yeah of course we all go there because we need money, and that's stressful, I get it -- but that's also the same reason anyone goes to their job. They're under the wheel of the capitalist machine just like we...
Read moreCertainly, I can help you craft a respectful yet assertive review that communicates your dissatisfaction with the experience. Here's a draft for your consideration:
Dear CSL Plasma,
I am writing to express my concern and disappointment following an unsettling experience at your [Location] facility on a recent Saturday morning. As a regular donor, I have always regarded [Organization Name] as a paragon of community service and was disheartened by the events that transpired.
Upon my arrival, I witnessed a distressing scene where a fellow patron's grievances were met with indifference, which regrettably set the tone for my own encounter. Despite being a returning donor, my attempt to contribute was declined on the grounds of an invalidated driver's license, despite presenting a valid digital ID. This discrepancy in accepting my identification, which remains legitimate for non-driving purposes, was both confusing and frustrating.
Moreover, it was disconcerting to overhear staff members express a reluctance to work, a sentiment that seemed to reflect in the lack of service provided. The inconsistency in service not only prevented me from donating and receiving the expected compensation of $150.00 but also denied me the opportunity to support the community as I had intended and cost me 50.00$ in an uber ride round-trip. I ended up losing money and feeling unaccomplishlised in giving service and unfairly treated, an example of discrimination. I should never have to experience that no matter what the circumstances are.
I have attempted to reach out through your customer service channels but to no avail. It is not my wish to cast aspersions but to seek clarity and assurance that such an experience is not indicative of CSL Plasma's values. I believe that every individual walking through your doors deserves a consistent and respectful engagement, and I trust that this feedback will be received in the spirit of fostering a positive environment for all.
Thank you for your attention to...
Read moreThis location is by far the worst, I tried to call several times with no answer. Then I arrived at 6pm when they close at 7pm but have donated several times at a different location, my fingerprint wouldn't work because it expires after 6 months, so I was told it was to late and they close in 30 minutes when I asked a manager to see me she said yes then denied my physical because I didn't have 2 forms of ID after I watched the 15 minute Video for consent to donate and read the forms for a new donation so an hour of my time wasted which I make $25 an hour doing my work, then I wasted about $8 in gas to go out to this location because I was working in Longmont, and about 15 more minutes that I spent calling them only to listen to an automated message and not a person to talk to so that I would know I had to bring my social security card, I could have made it home and to the location in Arvada before this and had a pleasant donation as the people there have always treated me as a person and not a bother. If I would have been treated a little better I would have left a review at all but after the first lady gave me attitude and then the manager not telling me that I would need 2 forms of ID before sitting in the waiting room for 20 minutes and watching a video then reading things I've already read many times then I would not be so offended. Save yourself thw time and go to a better location or to Biomat. The only reason that I'm leaving 2 stars is because there was a nice woman who went out of her way to get me a water or 2 because they were small. Thanks to her maybe this establishment will have some success otherwise the other 3 ladies are compleatly rude, disorganized...
