11/6/2023 Front of House Disaster-Unacceptable
Grab a snack! A lot of details coming you way.
To start, we have been visiting Okinawa Sushi north and south for years. We used to count on their consistency. At this point, we will no longer eat at the north location.
Front of house: That night the HVAC was not working. It was warmer outside than inside. Things happen, not the overall service failure.
There were two front of house team members. One was working the take out and one the walk in customers. They were not working together and both options we suffering as a result.
A Door Dash person had waited about 20 minutes past the planned pick up time. The person working that post asked for the customers name at least three times.
My girlfriend and I, as well as a couple of other patrons had waited 20 minutes past a reasonable time for our meals. One group was taken care of appropriately, but that just means they were served well before others that had been there long before others were.
My girlfriend was not feeling well, therefore, I was not at my best. Once I'd had enough I'd noticed all of us waiting customers had our orders up and waiting to be delivered to us. I asked the waiter where our meal was and asked why patrons were being served out of turn. The response was where the unacceptable statement comes from. I was told we have to understand that they were busy and that the kitchen has made a mistake. Not true! They were at 50 percent capacity for the walk in customers.
The kitchen was on point. Our food was up and the front of house was not working together or paying attention to the current state. They delivered our sushi and I had to remind them we ordered more than that. They went back and got our tempura dish. The flavor was there, but since the hot items were served cold, the back of the house has to take a hit too.
Bottom line, pointing fingers and not accepting responsibility for problems where they really are equals not a good dining experience. Had they communicated what was really happening and working together to mitigate the problem's everything could have been worked out.
We hope the south location can stay consistent. We will...
Read moreI decided to walk into the restaurant myself to place a pick-up order, thinking it would be a straightforward process. The order was fairly modest, comprising two sushi rolls and an appetizer. As I entered around 4:45 PM, I noticed the atmosphere inside—there were only a handful of tables occupied by diners, and the enticing aroma of freshly prepared sushi filled the air.
Although the establishment was starting to get busy, I managed to catch the attention of a server and placed my order with them. Afterward, I took a seat at one of the small tables, observing the increasing flow of customers. It was interesting to watch as various patrons came in, effortlessly collecting their orders one after another, while I remained impatiently waiting.
As time ticked by, my anticipation turned to frustration; I had been sitting there for over an hour without any sign of my own order. Each minute seemed to stretch longer as I watched others happily leaving with their meals. By this point, my initial excitement had dwindled, and I felt a sense of disappointment creeping in. Exhausted from the prolonged wait and disheartened by the disorganization around me, I ultimately chose to leave the restaurant, my own order still unfulfilled while countless others had been served with little regard for...
Read moreThis place sushi is NOT that great. Definitely sushi was not make by sushi chef. The owner speak Chinese and the music they play is Chinese. I ordered dynamite, scallops rolls, and oshinko roll. They miss spelled oshinko as in oshiko. The waitress was trying to correct me on the pronunciation. Sushi rice was ok, the oshinko was in big chunks which make the roll tasted very rough instead of delicate taste. They did not care to cut off the chewy part of these pickled radish. The dynamite have lot of mushrooms very little seafood in it. Taste wise it a little sour. I am mixed about the taste. The sushi rice of scallop roll is ok.
In general they are better than any of other fake Japanese restaurants around here. I guessed if you have tasted sushi at Sushi Den then there is no comparison. They are not friendly when you walk in. The non Japanese waitress acted like she know what sushi is better than the customer. She doesn’t know what Oshinko is when I ordered it. I ordered it because if you’re really Japanese you know how to prepare Oshinko. They may have a lot of customers don’t know what sushi is that was why they got such a...
