After attending the National Western Stock Show, my dad and sister (visiting from out of town) my husband, son, and I (new to the area) were craving some good Chinese. Thanks to Google, we found Chinese Palace. There were no other patrons when we initially went in, and we talked to the owners and other staff members and ordered a menagerie of items. We ordered: Fried Dumplings, Steamed Dumplings, Combo Lo Mein, Orange Chicken, Panang Beef Curry, Thai Yellow Curry Shrimp, Crystal Shrimp Dumplings, Shrimp and Pork Shu Mai, Steamed Pork Soup Dumpling, and Spicy Steamed Pork Soup Dumplings. It was all DELICIOUS!!! My dad traveled a lot with his job and said the steamed dumplings were some of the best we ever had, my husband who spent 2 years in the Philippines said the curry was as if he was there - the quality was great. You really couldn't go wrong with anything on here, our top favorites were the steamed dumplings, panang curry, shrimp and pork shu mai, and the spicy steamed pork dumplings. So happy and excited to make this our go-to Chinese spot, totally worth the 20-minute drive from our house. They were incredibly quick with getting our food out, and with how much we ordered they came out in waves which was just perfect. Also, the ladies were super friendly and were great with my 17-month-old son and making sure we were well...
Read moreThere are several things that set this restaurant apart from so many dumpling restaurants that have popped up in the last few years. First and foremost, this is a small business and the personalized service is appreciated and heartwarming. Secondly, this is not your standard dumpling place. While they offer common dim sum items, they also offer sweet pastry items that you don’t see elsewhere. Each item was hand made, and each bite oh-so delicious. We had shu mai, soup dumplings, pork and sesame pastry from the sweet menu (really good!), egg tarts, garlic bok choy, steamed pork spare ribs (loved the taro and black beans), and corn with kudzu root porridge (not what I expected and likely not a popular menu item but glad you offer things other places don’t. I now know where to go the next time I need something soothing when I’m sick). This is not a criticism of old style cart service nor are these folks trying to emulate a Cantonese/HK restaurant, but we enjoyed the pace of how the dishes came. The items did not come all at once, so they were piping hot as we were ready for the next item. Every item tasted good and showed the range of the owner having to hone her skills on Cantonese cuisine while also showcasing her specialties like the items filled with jujubes and dates. We will...
Read moreWe had an amazing experience at Chinese Palace Dim Sum Restaurant today! This is hands-down one of the best dim sum spots in town. Everything we ordered was exceptional—fresh, flavorful, and clearly handmade daily by the chef, which really sets this place apart. The soup dumplings (xiao long bao) were especially impressive, with delicate handmade wrinkles—no mass-produced, machine-pressed dumplings here.
The shrimp dumplings were another standout—definitely the best we’ve had anywhere. We also tried the preserved egg and lean meat porridge, which was hearty, fulfilling, and absolutely delicious. Another highlight was the sticky rice powder rolled in red bean paste, freshly made to order. It tasted just like the authentic flavors I’ve enjoyed in Beijing—it was that good!
The other sweet items were also a treat, made with real, high-quality ingredients you can taste in every bite. To top it all off, the tea was incredible. We had chrysanthemum and jasmine teas, both fresh and fragrant, brewed with actual flowers, which added a beautiful touch to the meal.
This spot feels like a hidden gem and is completely underrated. The attention to detail and quality of food is unmatched. If you're looking for authentic, high-quality dim sum, this is the place to go....
