I seldom use the word "disgusting" when describing customer service, but I'm going to use it today.
My Mother died a few weeks ago in Illinois. My sister went to the Post Office in Illinois to try and get my Mom's mail forwarded to me. However, because she is not listed as the Executor on the Will, she could not complete the forwarding process. We were told that I could bring a copy of the Death Certificate and Will to my Post Office here, and they could complete the forwarding request.
So, I show up to Eastlake Post Office this morning (04/16/24) at 8:00am with my envelope of papers.
First, it was 8:05am before the doors opened, which wouldn't normally cause me to bat an eye, but the way we were all greeted was a bad indicator for the customer service we were all about to receive.
Instead of "good morning" or "thanks for waiting", we were greeted by a demonstrably annoyed brunette, barking "the line is on THIS side of the counter" with an expression on her face as if she already knows she hates all of us.
Good morning to you too, sunshine.
The first victim...I mean customer, up to the counter was quickly and rudely banished to the forms table to fill out things appropriate to his transaction. The clerk seemed annoyed he didn't know what form he needed already, and seemed more annoyed when he asked for a pen. As he stood at the designated forms table, doing as he's told, the clerk barks at him again to go stand at a further table on the other side of the building instead.
My turn...yeah, this is going to go awesomely, I can feel it.
I get to the counter and explain what is going on. She immediately replies, "Let's look at it, but I KNOW you don't have the forms for this."
Aw, there's that winning personality. ❤️
Again, no, "hello", "good morning", "sorry for your loss", just an immediate brick-walling attitude.
She started reading out a list of documents she needed, of which, we didn't have any, because we cannot get into my Mom's computer.
I told her that two other USPS workers said that a notarized Will naming me as the Executor would be acceptable documentation to have her mail forwarded.
The clerk replied, "That document might have been helpful then, but it's not now. Your sister should have showed it to them then."
I said, "My sister's not the named Executor. I am. That's why I'm here."
I asked, "So, there's no way to get our dead Mom's mail?"
She said, "Call every company who sends her mail individually, I guess."
I then pushed back as to why I couldn't complete a forwarding request, to which she coldly slid yet another blank change of address form across the counter and said "try again and come back".
Already in a highly emotional state, I just left to sit in my car and cry for a moment and go home to regroup.
This will be the third attempt at trying to get my Mom's mail. There are so many other things to deal with. The life insurance company already paid us out, but I can't get her water...
Read moreThis post office and the mail carriers are so shady. I recently had a package “delivered”. It was no where to be found. Empty mail box, nothing on my porch, it literally disappeared into thin air. It was scanned as delivered though. I opened a case through the website and was told I would hear from this post office in a few days. I got nothing, no calls, no emails, no communication what so ever. I decided to go in and see what was going on. A female worker told me that the mail carrier had delivered my package to the wrong house, she told me it was delivered two houses down from me. She told me there was a camera on the mail truck that caught the mail carrier, delivering the package to the wrong house. They told me they will do an investigation and try to figure out what happened. The lady gave me a phone number that turned out to either be fake, out of service or just fake. A few days past, still no communication what so ever. Went BACK to the post office again. This time, the SAME lady told me the case I had open was closed. I confronted her about the fake number she gave me and offered no help on that front. They closed my case without reason or any notes on what happened, what was looked into, nothing. She also told me I was called and someone left me a voicemail, NOPE, never got a missed call let alone a voicemail. That same lady then contradicted herself and said that the package could not be traced and basically lied about the package being delivered to the wrong house. So the mail truck camera footage she claimed was there before, suddenly isn’t there anymore…. Fishy… today, I was basically told “tough” and that my irreplaceable package was just gone and they aren’t gonna do anything about it. To be fair they never did anything in the first place. To me, it’s all shady… someone is doing shady things here… I think the mail carrier on my route has sticky fingers or is extremely negligent. THE WHOLE STAFF AT THIS POST OFFICE IS NEGLIGENT.
EDIT!!! Talked with the mail carrier the other day, turns out, he did deliver it to the wrong house and admitted to reviewing footage of him doing so the day of the delivery!!! He basically said “tough shit”. So HIS mistake,...
Read moreI have never been so insulted, disrespected, dismissed or treated as rudely as I get treated by the lady that works here. I am shaking as I write this.
I 100% agree with so many of these reviews. There is one gentleman that works here that deserves 5 stars. If you are waiting in line I highly recommend waiting for him.
The older, taller short haired (grey/lt brown) woman has no business working anywhere that has customers. She flat out refused to sell me 2 envelopes and one stamp because I did not have a photo ID to prove that my card was mine. She claimed it was against the law to do so. I recently returned from traveling and my license was not in my regular spot. I did not want to hold up the line to look for something so ridiculous. When I presented 5 more cards, an insurance card and store loyalty cards she told me it proved nothing. I had JUST picked up my mail from my Post Office Box. I have been going to this location for nearly a year.
She continuously treats me with disrespect and is on a HUGE power trip. I have always been gracious even when she did not deserve it. Today I had had enough.
I went out to the lobby where I located my ID. (and stamps) and went back inside. Waited for the man that was working, bought two envelopes for 98 cents, used the same card and did not get asked for ID. I thanked him and asked how to submit a complaint he said he would have to ask her. I explained she was what the complaint was about. He directed me to an automated system which I did complete. It was not and is not enough.
She clearly hates her job and presumably her life. The USPS is doing their entire business a disservice by continuing to employ her. It is apparent that she doesn't want to be there so grant her one...
