If you know anything about buying fabric at HL, they have to hand write the prices and discounts on a piece of paper. Joann's would just scan the barcode and it creates the label. But HL is more old school. Because of this, I sorted every fabric by price- all the $5.99 together, all the $6.99, $7.99, etc. So that when they write it down, it's quicker to be grouped. Now I KNOW that employees in every business are hard to come by these days. And it was quite a skeleton crew in there the day I went. They had a note on their bell at the cutting counter that said they had stepped away but to go to the frames department and have someone paged. After I looked for an employee for a few minutes, I went to frames, and had someone paged. Along came Thomas. I try my best to bring humor and lightheartedness into every situation. I love making people smile or laugh. So when Thomas came over and already looked mad, I knew it was going to be rough. I said, "Hi! I have quite a few fabrics I need cut." He snapped back, "yeah, I can see that." 🙄 I gave him the first stack and said they were all $6.99 and I just wanted one yard. He seemed so frustrated like I was bothering him and slid the stack over to the side. I also felt annoyed and didn't even want to bother trying to make light of the situation. I seriously felt like I needed to apologize for wanting to buy fabric from their store! I would have gladly cut it myself. 🤷♀️ Twice there were other customers that needed one or two things cut and I happily let them go ahead of me. Even that seemed to irritate Thomas. 🙄 He kept telling people, "I have that WHOLE CART to get through so it'll be a while!" At one point a manager went by and said, "Dang, Tom. Is that all for one order?!" He replied, "Yuuupp, and more on the side, too." 🙄 I asked if he minded if I took my son to the bathroom and he said, "do what you need to do, it'll be a while anway." 😳😳 I enjoyed my conversations with other customers, though. 🤷♀️ They asked if I was a quilter and I told them about the jelly roll rugs. I showed them some photos and they thought it was really neat. Thomas, on the other hand, didn't crack a smile once. In fact, when he had finally finished cutting my fabric and slid it over to me, his final snide remark- "Here you go. I feel bad for the cashier." Like WHAT THE HECK. I didn't WANT to write this review...I reached out to the company first. But since it has been over a week without anyone reaching out to me to rectify the situation, I'm here leaving a review. I will be avoiding this HL and going to Grand Rapids instead. Feeling like a burden to just purchase fabric from a fabric store is extremely...
Read moreHobby lobby is one of them stores that you can easily become lost in. By lost I mean they have a plethora of items that are so neat and fun to look at that you could find yourself wondering all over the place in a cart full of things very quickly. They have all your expected items but the coolest part is all the unexpected items that they have. If you're looking for a poster of a cat in jail behind bars saying I'm locked up they won't let me out, and also need to get your nephew a birthday present perhaps a Nerf gun or a football and you want to get a tie-dye kit and the shirts to die so you can do that for the birthday party plus you wanted to get a floor mat for your mother that says welcome to Grandma and Grandpa's home and then you also were thinking about getting some wind chimes ooh and don't forget the pens that are very fancy and smooth riding for some work documents that you need to sign well hobby lobby is the place for all of those and so much more it's absolutely nuts Love that store. Only complaint I could say is the prices are a bit ridiculous on some of the things is to be expected it's a hobby store but it's a bit out of control if you ask me also some of the employees they are sweet and very helpful, but on the contrary they have some very snooty rude karen-like employees that judge a book by its cover My point being I'm a 6'2 300 lb male with beard and hand knuckle tattoos full sleeve and look like a biker dude I guess. Whenever I am in the store I am looked at by these Karen's and also a Chad who I believe is the store manager as if I don't belong and make me feel uncomfortable with how they speak to me when I greet them or ask them questions which is not professional in my opinion and should really work on not allowing your face to show what you're feeling or thinking so easily when you work in customer service. I get I don't look like everyone that shops there but this 6'2 tatted bearded biker dad likes to do arts and crafts with his kids My daughter and I make hat pins and we like to make magnets My son and I love to paint on canvas as well as do it yourself projects like toy trucks and stuff like that I don't think anyone should feel unwelcome based off their appearance so that's why I give it four stars...
Read moreShopping at hobby lobby is a much better experience than the other options for crafts in this area. There are so many options available at pretty reasonable prices. I love that in July, they are already getting the Christmas stuff out for those of us who love to be really prepared. Today I visited to obtain material for making dream catchers. I was able to find most everything on my own but when I was looking for the feathers I had a problem finding them. There was not a single employee in the area for me to ask for assistance and did need to go all of the way back up front to find someone. When I seen a lady (didn't get her name but later found out she was a manager) she seemed very displeased to be bothered. I asked her where I could find the feathers which I had a screenshot of from your website. She didn't bother to look at my picture but instead at the other items in my hand and stated that if I would have looked behind me where I got some of the items in my hand from I would have seen them in the same aisle. She then turned from me and simply walked away. I proceeded to the back of the store again and looked everywhere around where I got my other items from. No luck. I walked around a bit more and found another employee. Again no name but very helpful and attentive to my needs. She immediately walked me over to where the feathers where and I found exactly what I was looking for. 4 aisles away in another area by the way. No where near the items in my hand. This one is hard to guage as clearly management did a great job hiring attentive and helpful employees but the manager herself was rude, discourteous and no care clearly for her customers needs. I give 3 stars as I still enjoy shopping here and love the prices, options and 99% of the employee customer service. The manager interaction to me was a huge disappointment and almost enough to make me leave. I'm certainly glad I was patient enough to overlook it and carry on shopping as I found what I was looking for. But tsk tsk to...
