Absolutely the WORST furniture buying experience I have EVER had. We ordered our furniture in September 2020 and we were told it would be there by mid-December and we would have it before Christmas. Next they told us it would be done by late January and we would have it in mid February. Now they're telling us it won't be done and shipped until late February and we won't get it until March! This will end up being a FULL 6 MONTHS to get our furniture, and that assumes somebody actually knows what they're talking about this time. So, if you make the wrong decision and decide to buy from Gormans, take the delivery time "promise" they give you and, as a minimum, double it, because it appears they just fill the air with words that mean nothing. Would I recommend Gormans? Absolutely.....as a store to avoid!
2/22/2021. UPDATE
Well, not surprisingly, the last person from Gorman Furniture we spoke with who told us our furniture would be shipped in late February didn't know what they were talking about.......AGAIN! Now they tell us it won't be shipped until March 9th and it will take a week or two after that! Their incredible incompetence is never ending. Not only that, they have never bothered to call us to give us any updates about these delays, instead making it incumbent on the customer to call them. Gormans has some of the absolute worst customer service I have ever encountered from a furniture store. Yet again, all they are willing to do is blame the manufacturer. Simply put, Gormans staff is not knowledgeable about the products they sell. We were about to purchase a couple more chairs from them but, after this fiasco, rest assured we will be taking our business elsewhere. ...

As you probably recall, you had received some wrong information from another retail outlet about the furniture you eventually purchased from us. This lead to some confusion that we tried to clarify. Since opening our store in 1940, we have had the goal of always placing our customer’s needs above all else. With this in mind, as you know, per your request, we did refund your purchase in full due to the confusion caused by the other retailer. We appreciate the feedback and will use this to continue to further improve our communications.” Gorman's response (Above) to my last posted review is deceiving in that it blames another store rather than admit that its employee (Steven) was at fault and then he refused to admit that he was. Nor does the response address the fact that then another employee, Patty M, refused to acknowledge her written quoted lower price for our order and insisted on charging us more. And then Gorman's owner, Tom L, refused to acknowledge Patti's written document but instead chose to defend her deception and higher price. But--this turned out to be a really good result for me after all because my wife and I were then able to use our refund at another store (Bright Ideas and Julie C. in Royal Oak) where we had a great experience....
Read moreJackie was awesome! My wife and I were buying new furniture for the first time. We had no idea it could be so stressful. We had went to 8 other stores, and were pretty disappointed. Everything in our price range seemed cheaply made, and the salespeople seemed like sharks circling their dinner; the opposite of helpful. We had never heard of Gorman's, and when we walked in, we figured we were WAY out of our league. We were stressed and upset, and then we met Jackie. Jackie wasn't a shark, she was helpful, and brought us peace of mind. She took time to draw out our living room, ask us what WE wanted, encouraged us, taught us a TON about furniture, helped us narrow down what we were looking for, and even helped us find something in our price range (which we did not thing would happen in such a nice store). We weren't sure about color, so she offered to let us take some fabric samples home, and even let us borrow a pillow, so we could make an educated choice. My goodness. If the other furniture stores helped people the way Jackie did, it'd revolutionize the industry. Until that happens, do your life and home a favor and go to Gorman's. Ask for Jackie. She'll meet you with a warm cookie, and an even warmer smile. You'll be so glad you did. We...
