Beware of their Macy's Card & Customer Service
I was talked into a Macy's card which turned out to be a regular credit card! I asked the sales person multiple times, i.e. explicitly, if the "Macy's Card" would be like a regular credit card and thus coming along with all the downsides & side-effects of a credit card. This was denied repetitively by the sales agent in the store by giving me to understand that the Macy's card is no such thing like a "regular credit card" but an in-house customer loyalty / member card. Turned out to be false and like cheap sales-tactics were applied to trick a new customer into signing up for the Macy's card! ( - This is a big no-go!! Result: Hard pull on the credit history brought me down a whole 13 points!)
The Macy's card never arrived in my mailbox, however, the first credit statement did! In Macy's at the 12 Oaks Mall today, they refused to help me with that issue, claiming that I have to call the customer service to clarify this issue. Since the credit card never arrived, I can't link it to my banking account to pay the balance. Stating to the sales person, that I would like to pay my balance so that at least I could avoid any late fees. I was told that this can be done in-store but only with cash or a debit card. Since I had neither one with me, I would have to return another time. How convenient!
Calling the customer service to get all these issues clarified, resulted in 3 things: a) a phone line with an acoustical quality like back in the year of 1990, b) after speaking to a customer service representative I was told that they will check my data and put me on hold -- 27minutes!!! I hung up after nobody responded any longer!, c) nothing got clarified in the end! How convenient!
Beware of their customer service and so called "Macy's Card", which is nothing but a regular credit card with all downsides to it (like a hard pull on the credit history). It is shocking that this kind of "customer service", applied sales tactics and resulting negative customer experience still exist in 2018.
Lessons learnt: There are other shopping options out there, with far superior customer service & transparent terms & policies. Good by Macy's....
Read moreAwful. Tried calling them 5 days in a row - the associates that would answer would hang up before you could say anything! Only one time did I manage to reach an associate (at the Backstage department), who was then going to have a manager call me back within an hour (they were opening a credit account for someone). They never called. This was during the week during the early afternoon, when it was less busy. They had my name and phone number. Nothing. Every time I called (trying to get to Ladies Apparel) and hearing always that the link was invalid, I would press a different button for a different department, hoping to actually GET someone on the phone. Almost all the links are invalid. Yet we know there are phones there. Even more amazing, I left messages with the administrative office, and nothing. I tried multiple departments just to reach a human being. Nothing. It would always disconnect and say that the link was invalid. The voicemail for the Administrative office is out of date. When you call there, it has an old message that refers to the pandemic and old hours from last year. I called the Twelve Oaks Mall phone to be connected through their link to the store to see if somehow the online phone listing and the number given to me by my local Macy's was outdated. Same story, and it went into the same voicemail system. Terribly managed, I'm very sorry to say! My local Macy's (in Okemos) told me they would not even attempt to call them because they said they never answer. I thought that was a weak excuse and maybe the associate didn't have the time or want to be bothered. It might be different if someone like me had the time and perseverance to call. I was wrong and they were right! We love our local Macys' here in Okemos, but I would never shop at the one at...
Read moreThis rating isn't based on the store itself, but their cashiers and customer service. I was there shopping for my daughter's birthday. I finished 10 minutes before closing in the upstairs children section and was waiting in line 3 cashiers there and 2 (white & blk ladies) were busy helping a customer...fine. the 3rd 1 (white) was counting her drawer and ignoring me as I stood there, no greeting, nothing from anyone. I proceeded to walk away as I felt she was closing it and I will go to another and she yells out I can help you after you ignored me for 4 minutes & I was steps from furniture dept so I kept walking. So I went down on the elevator and to the cashier immediately outside the elevator and the 2 white ladies told me they were closed and to go to the lady by polo I think. Mind you it was not officially closing time yet. So I went to her and the black lady told me she doesn't know why they said come to her because she is closed and she sent me to a lady in I believe it was men's suits. There was a women working there i forgot her name but she was Arabic I believe and she helped and was very helpful and I encountered another couple that was there and shuffled around to and was very upset because it wasn't closing time yet. I only metion race & area to help identify who may have worked. Give your cashier's a tutorial on customer service. Unless your challenged it doesn't take very long to close drawer. I worked at all 3... Hudson's, Marshall Fields, & Macy's in my 20's and never have I seen this. Acknowledge...
