Welcome to Ocracoke Island (or thanks for visiting, depending on your direction). The Terminal at the south end of the island will be where you wait to catch the ferry to Cedar Island and rejoin the mainland.

The terminal is clean, comfortable and air conditioned. It has restrooms and vending machines for an easy wait. It also overlooks the ferry dock area so you can see it coming and you can keep an eye on your car in the parking lot as well. Be prepared for a two hour journey to Cedar Island though there is a passenger lounge on board with seating and restrooms.

May 2001- my mom and I very first time trip to Outer Banks, NC. We stay hotel in Atlantic Beach owner very nice, take ride drive to Cedar Island ferry 🚢 go Ocracoke Island. The service was horrible. I came early to ride the noon ferry, was told to wait in standby lane waiting for the ticket agent. One hour later, the ticket booth opened, I was told no ticket for 20 footer available for the noon ferry. Came back three hours later, got the ticket, told to line in lane 3. 10 min later, was told to move the lane 2 because the agent was a newbie and messed...
