Has always been my go-to stop for ammo, long before 2020. I was able to put up with the goofy lines, security counter for ammo, and buying limits during the craziness of 2020. During this time I actually thought highly of Academy for not price gouging, and offering good customer service.
But now its 2021, coronavirus was a massive sham and more or less everyone in OK has realized that by now. The new 2021 ammo prices at academy are a total JOKE. 70cpr for winchester white box 5.56, 60cpr for steelcase .223, literally some of the highest prices in the industry now. Some of their 9mm ammo is still at a decent price around 35cpr for brass case 9mm. Their steelcase 9mm is more expensive than that though, which is a disgrace.
Now that the shelves stay stocked due to outrageous pricing, you'd think you could buy as much ammo as you like, but NOPE. I've stopped buying most of my ammo from here due to prices, but this morning they did have a particular 5.56 loading ive been looking for in 20 round boxes, so I bought 4. On my lunch break I stopped back by to see if there was any more of that ammo. Turns out the only boxes taken off the shelf were the ones I had bought earlier this morning. Still like 50 boxes up there. At the register I was told I cannot purchase anymore ammo today, because of the buying limit. This is ultimately a small thing, but it is the straw that broke the camels back for me, and I wont be back for a while. Everytime I come in I watch people buy 4 200 round bulk packs of various loads, 800 rounds of ammo in 1 purchase. And the bulk packs always the first to sell out. And yet I get this much hassle trying to buy 160 rounds of ammo that nobody is buying off the shelf.
Nothing against the individual employees of this location, theyve always been nice to me. But as a long time customer im starting to feel a bit insulted at the prices on steel case ammo, and the ridiculous corporate rules that are...
Read moreWent here with my fiancee to purchase a firearm for Christmas. We had previously been in and decided on what we wanted already. Once we returned my son tagged along because we were going to dinner afterwards. We went in and I showed them the handgun we wanted. They asked who was purchasing the gun and my fiancee said she was. (As I previously been in earlier that week to buy and my still have not gotten a response) As she proceeded to do the background questionnaire I stood next to her and waited not saying one word to her. She finishes with the background part and they told her it would take 5-30 min. Which other customers came after her and was approved instantly. After about 15 min the manager comes and pull her to the side and said that they denied her because with me and my son standing close to her LOOKED SUSPICIOUS!! My fiancee is Chickasaw/Caucasian and my son and I are African American. My son which is a sniper in the military. I feel she was racially profiled!! They then told us they never ran her background check at all because they didn't feel like the purchase was for her. I'm not sure what basis they made this decision. I was there to help her make a decision. What's the difference in anyone offering a first time buyer assistance?? Claimed that we were speaking during the simple questionnaire after they reviewed the camera. Which we were not. She's smart enough to answer whether she an American Citizen or have committed any crimes (which none of the three of us have). I've spent a lot of money in this store and will not spend another dime here. Even after the manager came back to apologize and offer me an additional $25 off. This is horrible for you to deny is the right to protect ourselves!!! I'm over this business and will not step a foot into any of your locations again. I will tell everyone I know about this.

Read moreI had the best help at the Yukon Academy Sports + Outdoors store! He saw me looking a little bewildered and asked if I needed help. I asked him where I could find boat seat pedestals, and he led me right to where they USED to be. He pointed to the empty spot on the shelf and said with a look of remorse, "I guess we sold out of them today." I thanked him for his help, agreed to just oder them online, and have them shipped to the store. I started down the aisle in the opposite direction to look at a couple of other items when he called to me from the other end of the aisle. He kept looking after I had given up. He got me to come to where he was standing when he pointed out the only two that were left in the store. Someone had moved them, but he found them for me. I truly wish I could remember his name. He went above and beyond, in my opinion. From now on, when I go back to this store, I will look for him. The world needs more people like hime. I am a very pleased...
