while the room and everything else was fine yesterday everything else went down the drain when I had an encounter with the front desk lady (young Indian woman) who was working nightshift and when I got close to the elevators she stopped me and asked to see my room key and I asked “why?” And she mentioned “security purposes” so I did cooperate and showed my room key to her and left but before I got to the elevator I saw an older white gentleman walking pass her and she didn’t ask for his room key and there are cameras to prove that and as a person of color I felt racially discriminated and how I was treated especially being a choice hotels member I did call the corporate office to address my concern and before I checked out I mentioned this to Nick who is the day shift manager and according to him they had younger people whom were not guests and sometimes they do random security checks and ok that’s fine but I did address too him on how I was treated and he was very understandable, apologetic, and professional about it and is working on a solution I could have gave this a one star on how I was treated but Nick was very polite about the situation and hope there is a final decision on the outcome. Word of advice if you going to do random security checks make sure it’s everybody and not one ethnicity because I paid for my room like everyone else and you can see me in the system so to all my people of color traveling be cautious and aware if you do decide to stay at...
Read moreThis was our go to for when we came to see our dear friends in Yukon, but our Christmas Eve was anything short of relaxing and enjoyable. We have stayed here at least 5 times in the last 2 years and it’s our last. The power went out in the middle of the night and as a result, the room got uncomfortably hot and there was nothing we could do.
When I reported this information in the morning, I was told I “didn’t call and tell anyone.” The power was out… of course you didn’t hear the phone ringing. (I did try to call thinking there might be a backup line for emergencies, there was not)
We were upstairs and the lights were out in the hallway. I was told I “should have come to the lobby for help.” Hello! It was the middle of the night, I’m not going downstairs in the dark for a power outage in a hotel.
When I asked to be reimbursed for at least this awful night I was told no. Just “we will let our manager know.”
Lastly, the breakfast was actually awful. Which is surprising because it was good the last 4 times we stayed! I suppose the kitchen staff is over it, to where the eggs were extremely undercooked, salty and the biscuits were stale. The sausage was undercooked and hard to chew. Essentially we threw away our breakfasts which was a real letdown because we were actually looking forward to this.
I’m just shocked it’s fallen so much in a short amount of time and the lack of service/empathy for CHRISTMAS EVE is wild. Last time...
Read moreWe checked in after a long flight after midnight only to find when we opened the door it looked occupied. We had to head back downstairs to the front desk with our luggage, we were told that they were short in their cleaning crew & the room had not been cleaned from the previous guest. We were given the key to a different room, headed back upstairs, unpacked toilet overflowed now we had to pack back up our stuff and head back downstairs. I was told there were no king rooms available so they had to put it into a double queen & they would upgrade us to a king deluxe in the morning. Now we are headed back upstairs to unpack once again and it’s after 1 AM. The next day we were given the king room that had not been cleaned, but no upgrade was available. I left four messages for a manager to call me to speak with them about this experience….I never received a return phone call. I reported this to Choice hotel customer service they expedited it to the manager and the owner of this hotel, and to my surprise, they still did not reach out to me. Beyond so...
