Jane’s Gym has quite literally changed my life. I’ve always HATED working out. But, after I saw a special happening at Jane’s, I decided to join. I quickly found a community, my confidence, the courage to push myself to try newer and harder things, and the support I’ve never had in any gym. Absent were the judgements, the negative messages, the discomfort and instead I found warmth, encouragement, acceptance. Working out became less about something to do to punish myself and more about a celebration of what my body and mind could do- a reward for me and my health. Not only did I lose a lot of weight, but I found a love for fitness and an incredibly supportive and uplifting community, which in turn helped me find new ways to love and accept myself. While Jane’s is a smaller gym, I’ve been incredibly impressed with the equipment and facilities. When I tell my friends how much my membership is, they are FLOOORED by what a bargain Jane’s is, and they are always updating the equipment! The Jane’s staff are by far the most generous, loving, talented, and supportive group of women I’ve ever met in my life. Not only are these women well trained, rigorously certified, and incredible fitness and nutrition mentors, but they are also among the most encouraging, giving, patient, and talented people I’ve ever encountered. They make classes fun and engaging, cheer you on and offer encouragement in and out of class, model safe and correct form and kindly offer corrections and modifications to ensure you are both proficient and safe, and consistently bring high energy. These women go above and beyond to ensure Jane’s members have the training and support they need- adding new certifications to their portfolio, consistently showing up early and staying late to set up, answer questions, and engage with their members, switching up class choreography and consistently learning new routines, mentoring and checking in on us outside of class out of the goodness of their hearts. The fitness team is led by the impeccable and incredible Sarah Rucker Barker- whose leadership oozes acceptance, positivity, enthusiasm, love, and generosity. She inspires her team by holding an incredibly high bar for professionalism and training as well as creating a strong model for the type of accepting, fun community of encouragement that makes this gym more than a gym. These ladies have gone above and beyond to welcome me, coach me, support, me challenge me, and inspire me daily. I would walk through fire for them (and sometimes after GRIT I feel like I actually have….) because of the incredible commitment, joy, and generosity they bring to our gym. Not only does Jane’s have the BEST staff and trainers I’ve ever worked with in my life, but the women who come to this gym are INCREDIBLE. Jane’s has a culture of exclusivity and encouragement. This is modeled by the trainers and facilitated by the many special events and challenges offered each year that espouse the values we hold dear (health, support, community, and service) but also help facilitate strong relationships and community amongst its members. There are community service events and fundraisers, team and individual challenges, as well as multiple special events. Like most new gym go-ers, I started my journey hiding in the back, hoping to go unnoticed. Jane’s isn’t the type of gym, however, where you aren’t seen and appreciated. All fitness levels, all ages and life experiences are welcomed- you are celebrated for your efforts, not your capabilities. This is an environment where you feel safe and celebrated. I’m excited to show up every day to work out with my friends- who support me, inspire me, encourage me, and hold me accountable to be my best self. We are a TEAM committed to one another and each others’ success. I can genuinely say I love these women and that they’ve changed my life for the better. You will find no better community to help you achieve your...
Read moreSo today, January 21, I went to work out and apparently the OWNER did not like my review. He confronted me in the gym. I had not even been on the machine 5 minutes. He said I had Chelsea to contact you about your review, and I said yeah I know. He said why would you write that? Are you just made about the final payment you had to make and you decide to write me a bad review? I told him it is not about the last payment. It has been 24 months of build up. I told him when I told him about my initial conversation with Chelsea and my daughter coming to the gym she told me it was fine. I said this was before I even joined the gym. After I joined then there was a problem. I asked that they refund my money and cancel my contract if it was a problem before. Tonight he said I have bent over backwards for you and you write this. I am a bit hurt. What if I told you your daughter had to leave tonight??I said ok that's fine. I found another gym anyway, My membership ends Feb 15th. He continued to give me attitude. I got up to go to leave. When I got to my daughter she said that man asked me where you were. I said lets go. Then he offered to pay my last payment. I told him that payment is done. I already paid. I was just so bothered by the situation. How are you as a owner going to confront the guest about their review. The last time I checked this was a FREE country!!!!!!!!!!!!! I told him I told my truth. I spoke about how your gym made me feel. He kept cutting me off. I was livid. I called back and I said I want a refund because I no longer feel comfortable coming to this gym. I said I need a refund or I will contact a attorney for harassment. The girl named JESSIE said you can contact a attorney and then she went on to tell me that the owner did not harass me. I told her she was not over there when we were talking. She has nothing to do with this. I would just like my money back then effective immediately I will not return to this gym EVER!!! I have been in management for several years, and I could NEVER do what this guy did tonight. It is disrespectful to confront a guest about their opinion. The review is there for a reason. It is there for you to fix the problem. If you are not going to fix don't complain like a baby when someone says something about it. This is how you loose customers REAL quick. I would not invite my DOG to got to this gym. I spoke to several people at work about joining, but I will definitely tell them to look somewhere else. I am deeply offended. They are better off going to DAC or ATC.
I did not have a great experience at all. I have a 10 yr old child that I wanted to use daycare for. I was not told that all of the kids a re infants. I tried to remove the daycare off of my membership and they refused. I also was harrassed constantly about her being in a seat in the gym. She was always on her tablet or something. She never moved. I told them I had spoke with the manager already and he ok it. There was never anything in the notes apparently. I just left the gym. Now my membership expires, I was told Jan 19, 2015, and the rep said my payments are done. Then I call back just to make sure that was the case, and they say you have another payment. I am supposed to pay 29.90 for 4 days. So they extended it a month out. I told them that they charge for everything. I have 4 enhancement fees of $14. I was not told, until I called to check on canceling, that I need to write a letter and mail it to Utah to cancel my membership. It also had to be 30 days prior to cancellation. If not they would automatically renew my membership. I think that this gym is not worth the time and money. I am going to...
Read moreDuring college and my travels for work and pleasure, I’ve attended many, many gyms and Jane’s Gym (JG) ranks among my top favorites. I am reluctant to write this interview as I feel I’ve been hoarding this secret from the masses with the intentions of not sharing any floor space with others. That probably sounds terrible and selfish, but hey – that’s human nature. I confess that the only, only reason I am now writing this review is that I will be moving soon so I suppose a spot will be opening up. Jane’s Gym is truly amazing. I’ve been attending group classes there for a little over a year now, and they are so much FUN! During my time at JG, I’ve seen instructors come and go – some I was very, very sad to see go; but I’ve been told that’s how things are in the gym instructor world. Still, that does not affect my current feelings about JG – the instructors there now are really the BOMB. I prefer group classes only so I cannot speak for the other amenities this gym offers, but other ladies seem to really like the exercise equipment. Also, the facilities and equipment appear very clean, and they are always available (open 24 hours). I’m a huge fan of the instructors, the staff, and the facility overall. Recently, they’ve added additional square footage to the gym, and now it’s even better. If you are dubious about joining, just come check it out. They’re very cool about letting you do so. Best classes to me are Pound, any J-Lo class, Zumba, Spin, Pilates, Yoga, Kickboxing, and Brooke’s cardio classes – yes, I just listed them all because they’re all awesome! Come see yourself…you won’t be sorry. I will miss this...
