Wayback Burgers — Restaurant in Olive Branch

I was really excited to try it and recommended it to my boyfriend since he was craving burgers. Every thing online looked so tasty! So when we went in, I thought it looked super cute. I decided to get the Colorado burger and the coffee shake. My boyfriend got... I actually forget what burger he got (I was in a burger pity party once I started eating mine) but he got the mocha coffee shake. While we were ordering, the cashier turned to yell at her coworker, I guess she was training her, super loud and told her she was about to mess up the entire container of ice because of the bucket she'd used to get it. That's okay, but when I say "yelled", I mean yelled. The girl she was training looked so embarrassed. So we kinda nervously laughed, paid and sat down. Once we got the food, I immediately went for my coffee shake. And I didn't taste coffee really. It kinda tasted like when coffee icecream gets warm and develops that layer of froth on top that barely has flavor, but sickening sweetness... Except the whole shake. My boyfriend's tasted like a McDonald's mocha honestly. Both were $5, so the milkshake price was alittle insane for the quality. We were preparing to pay alot since we thought it'd be a good burger joint, but with the shakes tasting so bad.... My Colorado burger had coleslaw on it? It isn't shown in the pics to have that, only chili, beef and cheese. And there was more coleslaw than anything. I didn't taste chili or meat over it. I had to quite literally choke it down (my bf is a type 1 diabetic and would have ate it if I didn't, so I was trying to save him from the extra blood sugar). As I said, I don't remember his burger well, just that they apparently killed it with mustard and it was soggy with grease. We agreed that was probably the worst place we've been in about a year in...

Service was okay. The guy at the counter was a little rude. I ordered the ghost pepper burger and the spicy cheese curds. The cheese curds were great. Decent heat and cooked perfectly, but the location didn’t have any marinara or anything so we used ranch. The ghost pepper burger was flavorless. The patty didn’t seem to have any seasoning on it and the “spicyness” came from a few jalapeño slices. Not sure if there was a sauce they forgot, but calling a cheeseburger with 4 jalapeno slices on it a “ghost pepper burger” seems like false advertising. If you like spicyness or flavor, do not order that burger as it was extremely bland.

My wife ordered a chicken sandwich with onion rings. The onion rings were great. The chicken was flavorless like the ghost pepper burger. Seemed like there was no seasoning. Once again, don’t order this if you like flavor, extremely bland.

Overall everything was cooked well, especially the sides, but the burger and chicken sandwich were essentially flavorless. A well cooked burger/chicken breast still needs flavor. On top of that, my burger, drink, and curds was $19. Add on to my wife’s order and we paid $36 for 2 sandwiches, 2 sides, and 2 sodas. Way too expensive for the quality of what we ate. I went there earlier this evening with a friend. I placed my order then she placed hers on 2 separate tickets. Her food came out. When she was half way done with her food I went up and asked if my food would be out soon. They acted like I never ordered and demanded my receipt. After this, they made my food and it had been about 45 minutes when they brought it to me. It was made incorrectly and they also forgot the fries. I took it back and immediately heard the cook say she refused to make it again. So, I asked for a refund. I was told it would be 20 to 30 minutes as she had to cook the food. Turns out the cook was the manager. I asked why she couldn't make my food or give me a refund and she told me she guessed she could make it. I said never mind because I feared she might do something to it. l again asked for a refund. I finally got a refund 1.5 hours after I arrived and left hungry. What a terrible experience. No one apologized or tried to even take any responsibility. They acted like it was my fault my order was never placed to the kitchen, then tried to make it my fault it was made wrong until I again showed my receipt with the correct ingredients requested.
