Update: The owner contacted us a few hours after I wrote this review and offered to take the washer and drier back without charging us the fee. He was very apologetic, and said the salesperson we had been working with should not have dealt with the situation the way he did. They called back later that day and said they had another washer in stock (same model as we purchased) that they had been holding for another customer who did not need it for a few weeks, and they could swap it out for the faulty set and bring it out to us the next day. I appreciate that the owner reached out to fix the situation.I have updated the review from 1 star accordingly.
Original Review:Mckinney's sold us a broken washer and drier and refused to take it back. They sold it to us under the pretense that it was new. After it was delivered and we discovered it was broken, they made us wait a week for a GE repairman to come out and take a look at it. They told us if the GE repairman didn't fix it that day they would deliver us a new washer the next day. They said they would get started on ordering a new one right away to make sure we had a working washer and drier. A week later GE determined the washer had a broken control board and inlet valve. When we told Mckinney's the news and that we are ready for our replacement, they then tried to get us to schedule another appointment with GE to fix their broken washer. GE would have to order the parts and could not give us a timeframe for when it would be fixed. It turns out Mckinney's doesn't have a replacement for us after all and if they order one now they would not be able to get it to us for three weeks. The only reason we went with Mckinney's is that we needed a washer and drier quickly, and they said they could give us a washer a few days earlier than the big box stores could. I have already been dealing with this for too long and I am out of clean clothes, so we just asked to return the broken washer they sold us. They refused. Mckinney's tells us the only way they would take it back was if we paid them $400; 25% of the price of the washer and drier. I am really wishing I had just gone to Home Depot so I could just be doing laundry by now and not be dealing with this headache. If you buy something from this place, keep in mind you might be buying a broken appliance with no way to get...
Read moreThis week we wanted to replace our existing Samsung washer and dryer combo. After some research, we visited several box stores, COSTCO, and Best Buy. Our last stop was at the West Olympia location of McKinney's Appliance, a local/family owned business.
As we entered the store, we were greeted by Chris and he asked how he could help us. We were looking at a GE Profile top loader washing machine with an agitator and a matching GE Profile dryer. I asked Chris about a Maytag model and he explained the pros and cons of each model.
He explained that the GE models were eligible for 2 rebates and looked at competitors pricing on similar models.
He explained how the GE warranty program worked, and in the event of a repair problem the McKinney's Lacey location has a parts department.
We decided to buy on a Monday and he had a Wednesday afternoon appointment available and he scheduled us. He explained our invoice and printed all of the necessary forms for the 2 rebates and showed us how to register our purchases with GE.
On Wednesday afternoon, Aaron and Zac delivered our new machines and removed our old Samsung machines. Aaron did the necessary tests, looked for leaks, and ran both machines for a brief period. The installers were prompt, polite, professional and answered all of our questions. We received all necessary startup guides and documentation. We were washing the first load of laundry within an hour.
Needless to say, we heartily recommend McKinney's Appliance for anyone looking to buy any new appliance. The product knowledge by the staff is top notch and our experience with delivery and installation is the best we have ever experienced. And it is cool to support a local business that has actual employees that really care about their customers.
Thank you Chris,...
Read moreAfter comparing prices at Lowe's and Home Depot I saw that McKinney's had the best price for the range we needed. I called and spoke with Mike. I told him what we were looking for and he told me they had the type we wanted. He explained the delivery and was really awesome because they added a cord at no additional cost. We weren't too picky about the delivery date and the cost for delivery was less than the other stores I researched. When they dropped off the range we recieved a courtesy call about 20 minutes ahead of time. The delivery people had masks on and took great care with bringing the range in our house and removing the old one. They got it set up and even cleaned the smudges off of it. I love it and it is so nice to have a range that is working perfectly! Mike called about a month later to follow up and see if we were happy with our range. I HIGHLY recommend shopping for an appliance at McKinney's for the following reasons: Helpful salespeople Great prices Low delivery fee They take your old appliance Great care when it's delivered Very nice delivery people I never set foot in the store. I did the order over the phone which I was very nervous about, but I am very happy with...
