On the surface of things, Seattle Sutton's Healthy Eating appears to be a prepared meal plan. It is that, for sure...and a very fine one. But what the delicious, delivered meals have come to mean to me is much, much more: My relationship to food had become imbalanced to the point that I basically began slowly killing myself with uncontrollable consumption of ever-increasing quantities of sugar, fat and salt. As I binged, I felt shameful, guilty, and utterly defeated. Yet, I could not stop. In a moment of grace, I found Seattle Sutton's Healthy Eating and signed up for the 1500 calorie-per-day, vegetarian meal plan. In my first 2 1/2 weeks I've dropped 8 pounds! The real miracle, though, is that my whole outlook has been transformed: Rather than constant stress and worry about all the decisions having to do with food, all I have to do is sit down for each meal, say a prayer of gratitude for the miracle that is on the table before me, and enjoy it! So that I don't have to...someone thought creatively and carefully about this menu; about how to make it delicious and about how the nutritional profile fits into the day and into several weeks' rotation. Someone did the math to provide the optimal balance and quantity of nutrients so that I feel better, have energy, and can lose weight, all at the same time. (That's a narrow window to hit, and a LOT more math and research than I can sustain.) Someone kept an eye on salt and added sugar, someone made sure that even spreads and condiments are portioned and provided, someone thought about a wider array of foods in 2 weeks than I used to get in 2 months, and someone fit it all into easy-to-grab packaging. Someone transported it and delivered it. What arrives at my door, disguised as a cardboard box, is the peace and comfort of knowing that the guidelines of the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, National Institutes of Health, Center for Disease Control and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics are being met. In short, DESPAIR has turned to HOPE. And I can finally banish once and for all that insidious voice that whispers lies into the ear, "Are you sure you don't NEED to eat more? How can you know you're getting the nutrients you need?" Because Seattle Sutton did the hard part! I just give thanks...
Read moreHonestly, I cannot say enough good things about this company so far. I've been on it for a few weeks now. I hate when I see advertisements for these meal deliveries where the food is made to look so incredible through nice photography and fancy ads. They play all of these commercials where some supposed customer boasts and boasts. They put insane amounts of money into the packaging alone to make it sale. I get sucked in thinking it's going to be good "this time" and then get let down by the flavor and a huge amount of odd things I would never eat. I find myself thinking I can just deal, but then I realize it's not worth the cost. I shouldn't have to deal and struggle with each meal. I realize everyone has a different opinion on food. I am not a picky person either. I am on the verge of kidney dialysis. I have type I diabetes. I need to drop weight. It gets frustrating sometimes trying to plan meals out keeping in mind my sodium, protein, carbs and so on. If you deal with any health conditions you know it's a big enough struggle just dealing with the physical issues. With that said, meals like this make things a lot easier if they are actual good meals. I've been refraining from going on about these meals because I don't want to jinx it. I can now say that without a doubt, they are the best I've had. They put a lot into the meals they create. They manage to maintain flavor while keeping the sodium and other stuff down. The menu items are realistic to what the average person would enjoy. Everything is fresh. The fruits are exceptional. Now that they've added the option of no seafood, it saves me from salmon. I can't do salmon. I will sacrifice other seafood to do away with it. The customer service is exceptional. They are really personable. The packaging is excellent with every shipment. I can't promise anyone they would love the food as we all have different ideas of what is good. I can say that this company is worth it to me and I will happily continue. As far as cost, that's an issue for a lot of people. It does weigh out in the long run if you compare what you would be spending on groceries and time consumption, shopping,...
Read moreI’m a medical resident with a busy lifestyle and was looking for something healthy that didn’t require any preparation. Seattle Sutton seemed perfect for this. The food is overall OK, it’s not anything to write home about, but it doesn’t taste like diet food either. I like that it is a full meal and not just an entree. I will, however not be ordering from this company again. The main problems are that there is no flexibility at all, if you have an allergy or don’t like a food, you can’t swap it or exclude it from your order. You also can’t choose to have only certain meals, and it is delivered on Tuesday which is inconvenient for the work week. Even more than that, the company itself is a problem. I have been ordering from them for months and cancelled my subscription early in the week because I am going on vacation. They called me after business hours on Thursday from an “UKNOWN” number to let me know that I had until Friday at 10am to call them to prevent another order from shipping. I, again, am a busy person and was at work at that time, like most people that order this subscription probably were. I called back when I got the voicemail on Saturday morning. I was told that it was already going to ship out and there was nothing they could do. I told them I would not be here and the food would literally rot on my doorstep. They said that they could then put it on the “don’t ship list”, but could not refund me. This does not make any sense. If you can tell my order not to be shipped, you can refund me. The representative very rudely stated, “that’s just not the way it works.” Don’t buy from this company. They are rigid,...
