I dropped in for a class while in town and arrived 15 minutes early to sign the waiver. Joe, who I believe is the owner, met me and had me fill out the forms on the computer. A local client came in while I was filling out the waiver and Joe told her she was not able to do the WOD that day because she hadn't completed her one-on-one sessions yet and was required to do those first. This was understandable as it probably helps streamline group workouts and alleviates the need to constantly review technique and form on movements-
After listening to this, as a drop in who had not given any background on myself, I expected that I would be asked about my experience level and how long I had been doing crossfit- but after completing the paperwork and paying the drop in fee I had no further interaction with the coach (Joe). Eventually a few other people showed up- they seemed to all know each other and were friendly with each other, but no one introduced themselves or said hi to me.
The WOD was ok, and included a benchmark WOD that I improved on, so I had a good workout, but I didn't feel extremely welcomed by the staff or the members. The only time I received any 'coaching' was as I was pushing through the end of the WOD, and everyone else was already done.
As an airline pilot I routinely overnight in Las Vegas I was hoping this might be a place I could return whenever in town for a great workout/to meet new people. I came to try out The Strip because of the 5 star reviews and was surprised my experience didn't match up- perhaps I came on an off day. There was nothing bad about it, but I will try somewhere else next time...
Read moreThroughout my life, I've frequented several gyms and CrossFit boxes. I've finally found a home at the Strip Crossfit.
It's within walking distance to the Las Vegas Strip, which is perfect for visitors. The entire gym, including the bathrooms and showers, is extremely clean and features all new equipment. The owner, Joe, clearly puts a lot of effort in maintaining his box.
The classes feature an explanation of the workout, stretching, a step-by-step tutorial of the day's movement, a capacity building workout, and a workout of the day (wod). The coaches are all very approachable and keep a close eye on the class, providing instructions and encouragement when needed.
Personally, in my first year at the Strip Crossfit, I learned to do handstand push-ups, bar muscle ups, ring muscle ups, and double-unders. My growth and improvement at the Strip Crossfit has been a lot of fun and I credit it all to the coaches (Joe, Nick, Meridith, and Kandice).
The Strip Crossfit is a great place to be a member, a drop-in, or a first timer to CrossFit!

Read moreI built a garage gym and worked out on my own for 2 years, thinking $100+/month gym fees was exorbitant. But I stagnated and couldn’t talk family into suffering with me. I skipped around town, wanting to find the right gym vibe that wasn’t like a high school club or so elite I felt inadequate.
The Strip CF is perfect. I happily drive 40 mins RT 3-4 times a week to be with my fav trainers which happen to be all of them for different reasons. They are elite athletes but I feel at home. I love that we get so many travelers from other cities and countries and we get to get a bit of their story.
My endurance and strength has jumped by leaps, and overall I’m a much happier person. Even if I’m working out by myself I hear Joe say, Stop shaking your head NO. Lol. Or Steph correcting my back squat and Kandace yelling over beats, You’re almost there!
Maybe it’s cliche but there’s nothing like sweating it out with everyone else, knowing they’re hurting and whatever stress is going on outside...
