Would highly recommend reading reviews prior before making a purchase at this specific store.
Just like others, I was greeted with such attentiveness and a friendly staff upon arrival. This was around May 2021 -- so inventory was still extremely low at all stores. We were sold on this white couch based on what the sales rep (Alexandra) told us when we originally wanted to go with a different color. We were sold on the customer service, quality of the product, but most importantly the 5-year insurance protection plan the company partners with that would replace the couch if there are ANY issues at all. It sounded great and trusted in the process, even though we waited until September 2021 to get the actual product.
Fast forward a year later. Many issues with the material and damages I did not see prior behind the couch. The fact that this is a white couch makes the situation even worse. Funny enough, as soon as I attempted to fill out the warranty through their insurance company, I am denied twice for reasons I am still unsure about. Called the store multiple times and was told they would handle it -- no updates. Called once more and was told I would be put in touch with the district manager via email, David. Explained my frustrations with him to see if he could help manage my expectations as a customer and fix the issue based on what his sales representative sold us. Through obvious sales verbiage, was told to keep contacting the insurance company and would not help us, as if I was being brushed off. Was also told there is certain verbiage I should be telling the insurance company in order to get my warranty approved. Makes it seem like this was an under the table business deal. This got me to a dead end street and decided to just deal with what I got.
I have given up at this point and started to read some of the reviews online. Most of which are in the same situation as me. Prior to getting the big sale, the entire Modani team is beyond perfect on customer service. After you purchase, barely any communication and help afterwards. My wife and I recently purchased a dining table from Modani, paying extra for delivery and their “white glove” service, which is supposed to include full installation. What we got instead was a complete disaster.
On delivery day, I took time off work and stayed home all day to receive the table. But instead of calling us upon arrival or delivering the service we paid for, the delivery team simply dropped the table off with the doorman and left—no call, no knock, no installation, nothing.
I called the delivery company at least five times throughout the day. Every time, they told me the driver would return. He never did. Eventually, they told me there was “nothing they could do” and pushed the responsibility onto Modani.
Then came the endless back-and-forth between us and Modani. Modani’s salesperson was completely unhelpful and took no responsibility. I clearly stated we had paid for installation and expected someone to come back. Instead of assisting us, he said it wasn't his problem. I told him please give me updates after you contact the delivery company, he never did, until I called him next time. Then he will push this to the delivery company. The excuses he used include: The delivery company did not replied his email; The delivery company did not pick up the phone; The delivery company was busy; The delivery company will contact you, if not, you should contact the delivery company. While when we called the delivery company, the delivery company claimed they were waiting for Modani’s approval to send someone. We were lied to over and over!
This experience was a nightmare. Not only did we not get the service we paid for, but the communication was a total mess. We spent two full days chasing people over the phone. The table is still uninstalled, and no one is taking responsibility. Based on this experience, I have zero confidence in their warranty service as well—if anything ever goes wrong, I expect the same blame game and lack of accountability.
