9/23: I had to file a dispute with my credit card company for the Grocery Outlet on American St double charging me INSTEAD of issuing a refund for RETURNED items. 3 managers surrounded me in my wheelchair, accused me of lying, refused to look at my receipts or acknowledge my card transactions on my phone. They were discriminatory towards me as a handicap person and treated me like I was mentally ill NOT unable to walk. I was kind, never swore or raised my voice. I will NEVER shop there again!
UPDATE: 10/14/23 Marie, the store owner DID rectify the situation with my MasterCard refund issue. However, I have NEVER received any type of apology from any of the other managers/assistant managers who initially caused the grief or who were ignorant to me. Against my initial thoughts, I have returned to the store. These women have SEEN ME, been RIGHT NEXT to me, have had every opportunity to apologize, smile - something! Marie, the owner DOES make it a point to great me & make conversation when I'm there. However, Marie you need a STRONGER, MORE PROFESSIONAL TEAM! As a former business owner I know that the "BOSS" can't do everything all of the time! But I appreciate you, Marie for YOUR friendly service & correcting my...
Read moreEvery time I’m in here I get most of what I need at a price below what I could ever expect. The service and team members are always so helpful and fun to talk to and really enjoy everything about the place… until today.
The girl in a pink hoodie in register 2 today was the worst guest service person I may have ever met. I approached her with a warm hey how is your day today to be completely ignored. That’s when I realized her headphones were in and clearly couldn’t care less about anyone but herself. I then tried again to start some sort of conversation just in case just to be ignored again. Then she did not tell me my total but excepted me to start to pay and turned away while I tried to hand cash to her for about 30 seconds and so I said excuse me to nothing then left the bill by the scanner as I began putting my things away. She sat there staring at me after I had finished when I had to pick up the bill hand it to her for her to grab change also not tell me the change then also not tell me to “have a good day” or a single word at all. Luckily I’m here all the time but to anyone who walks in for the first time to experience her likely won’t...
Read moreOnly went for the grand opening to just check it out, but it seemed like compared to other grocery discount. Outlet locations, here, they stocked the store with mostly essentials, meaning this will be a one stop shop for everything you might need on your grocery list.
I didn’t see any incredible bargains here, especially in the meat, cheese, produce aisles. Other stores tend to get a variety of discontinued and clear out products, stuff, near expiration, on deep, deep discounts. This seemed to me to be kind of just like a regular grocery store, perhaps for their opening they focused on filling their shelves with a variety and products they could order in great quantity, however was not super impressed by the so-called “discount prices” compared to the Sharonhill and western burbs location, where you can find bacon ends in pieces in great big packages for $.99 a pound, halloumi cheese at half the normal price, delicious fresh, cheap gourmet olives, interesting pints of ice cream for $2 etc etc
Still, with delivery on DoorDash a great asset to the neighborhood and very...
