They have significantly changed their model of what the store is recently. Some of it is good, some of it is "meh". The good: They offer in-house veterinary services during regular business hours and weekends. It's a new separate area of the store that is great for routine check-ups and vaccination services. They also run the VetCo vaccination clinic there on weekends. I don't believe they offer more advanced veterinary services like surgery or diagnostic imaging, but if your pet needs a checkup or routine sick visit (like ear infections, hot spots, skin irritation etc), then it's a great and reasonably priced service. The separate area with seating is much better than the makeshift Vetco clinic they used to run. But their prices for vaccines are second to none for the area. Very reasonable. The vaccination clinic is only offered on some days and an appointment is 100% required. No walk-ins. They offer scheduling on their website. The not-so-good/"meh": They used to have reasonably priced pet supplies and food. You could get "budget" products like Fancy Feast and Pup-peroni. That's gone. They only offer higher-end products now. Their treats are expensive. The food can be reasonable if you use the rewards program, but otherwise their prices are on the higher end versus places like Amazon. They have a good selection of dog food and decent selection of cat food. You can find high end products like Royal Canin and Orijen here now. They also have a refrigerator and freezer section with raw and fresh pet food products. They're not cheap, but they have them. The toys are generally overpriced versus other stores, but again, the selection is good. The in-house grooming is fairly priced and I've always been satisfied with the outcome. The staff definitely love animals and are friendly, which is a big plus over the usual big-box pet store experience. I typically only go if I need something right away (food or pet care products) or for their VetCo routine vaccination/check-up services. Otherwise the other items can typically be found cheaper elsewhere. Definitely enroll in the rewards program if you plan to visit even semi-regularly. And be aware that their vaccination services are only on certain days like weekends, so be sure to check online and reserve a time. Since it's cheap, people sometimes bring pets that aren't "stranger" or "other pet" friendly. The staff are pretty animate about it not being the place for pets like that, but to save a buck or two people will do just about anything. So be careful. My lab has almost been attacked a few times by pit bulls and similar breed dogs whose owners were in denial about their disposition. Those animals need a private vet. The waiting area becomes crowded, especially on weekends, so the animals are in close proximity to each other. I have seen staff refuse services to animals that are violent, so they do at least enforce their policies. But the owners are often a different story. Be responsible and realistic about your pet and there won't be an issue. Typically they say that if your pet needs a muzzle for the vet or around strangers then the vaccination clinic is NOT for you. It's the people who make things difficult sometimes, not the staff. The staff are always fantastic. They don't just jab your pet and move on, despite seeing dozens a day.
It's not a big deal, but be aware of the changes...
Read moreI brought my 6month old French Bulldog to the Vetco clinic for a microchip and to be "fixed". When I say the level of care was above and beyond, I really mean it. The vet was so nice, informative, and she made it clear she cares about my puppy, so much that I assure you once the surgery was done, I know for a fact during recovery either she was with him or someone else was the entire time, as my concern was him never being alone. If she had to walk away for any reason, then another one sat with him. (I'm not kidding, they really did make him comfortable the entire time). I got all the information beforehand on what to expect, and after care instructions were very thorough. She made it clear that if she had concerns (Frenchie life problems) she was determined to assure he would be safe and addressed each concern with how she would move about dealing with it. It helped keep me relaxed with expectations, and it just seem like she sincerely cared. She treated him like a child, like she would want us to treat her child, like family, not just a pet. I got everything I needed to take him home that same day, never had to make a stop for his medications or aftercare- all provided. I felt safe, confident, and cared for. I even got a call the next day we went home to check in on the pup, she was available anytime, I even had her cell if I needed her on a day she wasn't at the clinic! I felt my puppy was in the best hands from the first minute we arrived for the pre operation visit, to the surgery day, through it, and after. I am so glad I made the choice of going to Plymouth, Ma Vetco. Above and beyond care! I 10/10 recommend for any and all care! We've been coming for his puppy shots since day 1, but this surgery too made everything so...
Read moreI have been coming here over a year, no issues treated me well and I always tipped no matter how big or small the job was. First and foremost my appointment was canceled due to the groomer calling out. I have 2 dogs and asked if they could just assist me with the dog more in need because they were both scheduled for that day. I was told no because they couldn’t fit a dog his size in their agenda which I was confused about because he was already fit into the agenda but Moving forward they rescheduled my appointment I come in (may I add I have a new born I have to carry along with me) she gives a feel around and says she cannot assist me because the clippers he needs they don’t have and that I need to go to a vet and have him medically shaved. I then called the vet the following week vetco that they share a space with and they were so confused because they said the groomers have those type of clippers and that they would have to give me a call back which I still haven’t received. I called the next location near my home ( Pembroke) they were happy to take me and also told me as long as I didn’t mind starting new I should be able to be assisted. With all that being daid I have a golden doodle almost 2 and does normal puppy activity doesn’t bite maybe a lil hyper and happy but they have never complained about him and each appointment he has gotten better so I am very hurt and upset by the way we were treated and hope they make...
