Very interesting place. It's like a museum. Dean has an eclectic and tasteful selection of unique goods from all over the world. As an artist, I thoroughly enjoyed walking around and seeing the massive number of items he had accumulated. Many things are original works of art, while others are mass produced. I was, as others have said, instructed not to touch anything and rather to take pictures of anything I was interested in and show them to him. As a ceramicist with extensive knowledge of market trends, I do know that I was quoted some pretty unreasonable prices for some of the items I inquired about, which Dean was not willing to negotiate. I agree with others in that I do feel I made a mistake in being honest and telling him where I was coming from (San Francisco) and what I do for a living (tech) because he definitely quoted me somewhat unfair prices for the slipcast (easily manufactured,) ceramic work I was interested in. In the end however, I was interested in many items and I did make a purchase - I am also an eclectic collector of art from around the world and I understand how much of an investment Dean has made in curating and acquiring his terrific collection - the shipping of these items from literally all over the world certainly cost him many tens of thousands of dollars. Overall, I felt that the premium I paid for the single item I bought was justified in that as a result of my admission to the store, I spent well over an hour perusing his museum-quality collection of decor, sculpture, furniture, jewelry, clothing, and so much more. I must have looked at several thousand items, without exaggeration. I particularly enjoyed the extremely deliberate symmetrical arrangement and color-based grouping of many items, as well as the plaques engraved with some of Dean's favorite literary quotes.

We've passed Globetrotter hundreds of times and were always amazed at the extensive pottery arranged around the exterior. We stopped in to purchase some planters for our home and wanted to go inside to see more. Dean opened the door and we were shocked to see an amazing curation of decorative home items from over 45 different countries all arranged in different vignettes. It was amazing...sort of museum meets home decor. Worth a stop in, but take your time...so much to look at and absorb.

My two children and I were browsing, and I apparently committed the unforgivable sin of picking up a pot to examine it. A man promptly appeared to chastise me. I was informed that none of the merchandise is priced, that I was not permitted to, "lift, turn, or carry" the pottery. I was also told that I must ask the price of anything I was considering to purchase. I was given a dissertation regarding the considerable efforts that went into producing the wares that were displayed. The person who addressed me ( I assume he was the proprietor), was the most condescending person I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. He was an angry, defensive, and arrogant person. I have often passed the establishment, and was intrigued by the attractive pieces, and today I finally stopped, fulling intending to make a purchase. Needless to say, after the terrible reception I received, I left, empty-handed. I did not have much of an opportunity to examine the pottery further, but the pieces were not nearly as impressive up-close as they are when I'm driving by. The visit wasn't worth the effort it took to park my car. It was very...

I’m having a hard time writing this review because I can’t say exactly how this place makes you feel. My mom and I came in today and spent almost 3 hours just looking at every little piece this man has. Dean is by far the nicest person I’ve ever met. We were greeted warmly with a backstory and were given a few rules but nothing crazy! Once you enter you will completely understand why these rules are placed. The store isn’t even a store. It’s more like a museum of this man’s travels and life stories. Every piece has a story behind it. Everything is so meticulously placed. It’s just fascinating. If I could rate this place 1 million stars, I would. We plan on coming back in the springtime to see what he has collected over the winter. Deans stories and kindness are ones I will cherish forever. If you’re in the area or are even thinking about going please go. Even just for...
