Makes me very sad writing this as I have been going to sunshine daydream since high school and before they changed locations and opened their new store(s). My mom and grandma would bring me here when I was little when they first opened back in 2005. The prices have skyrocketed and I fear they have steered away from the "local business" culture and prices. Now it feels like I'm shopping at an expensive department store. The prices are not reflective of the quality. The jewelry isn't as good as it used to be as the $14-$16 sterling silver earrings begin to tarnish after a month of wear. Many of my pieces I own have become stretched out and pilled after only a few wears (even with gentle washing/cleaning). Some of the pieces being the EXACT SAME BRANDS that are sold at Island Gypsy in Lavalette but being more affordable there. Today I went for the first time in a long time as I had a gift card and wanted to give them another shot as I so badly want to love sunshine again. But when I went to pay the girls said there wasn't enough money on my unused gift card saying there was only $13 of the $25...do not think it was malicious or intentional but I think there was a mix up due to them reusing gift cards. If you're charging this much for your products, why can't you afford to buy new gift cards or have a better system? The girls kind of just looked at me and shrugged like "sorry". After today, it makes me so sad as a local of point pleasant boro that a store I once loved for the quality and price has now become a hub specifically geared towards...
Read moreMy sister and I really love this shop! We live up north but have a summer home near by and lots of family who live here year round. We are both in our 50’s and have worked in the NYC fashion industry all our lives, so we do know a bit about wholesale/retail. Every time we pop into this shop, we stay awhile! We comment to each other on how well the store is merchandised, we always wonder who does the buying because it’s so good and we always walk out with bags in our hands! The prices are very fair in my opinion and the clothes are stylish but also tasteful and also seasonally correct and very wearable pieces. We also really like how many of the offerings work together so you can easily mix and match to make outfits and they also have “sets” that we appreciate. This is our go to place when we are down the shore and need something for ourselves or a present. I came by once this past summer because I needed a very light weight summer sweater to wear in restaurants that tend to be chilly in a neutral color to go over whatever I was wearing.i found it here! Not only did I find the perfect thing - I had multiple choices to choose from and ended up with 2 options that I wore all summer long. I Also picked up a pillow and a candle and a really cute summer tote bag! To the owner of this great spot, please don’t change a thing! We love your taste and your shop is absolutely wonderful! I meant to leave a review long ago but I did today because I googled to see if you would be open tomorrow and lucky for me,...
Read moreOverall, this shop has cute clothes, accessories and gift items! My issue was with how uncomfortable one of the staff members made my shopping experience. While perusing the store I felt as if the one staff member, a middle-aged woman with short dark hair (only reason I point that out is because all the other staff members seemed very friendly and I don’t want my review to be generalized), was watching/hovering around me and proceeded to ask me at least 4 times while in the store for 25 mins tops if I needed help finding anything (two of those times were literally within a couple minutes of each other - my husband even took notice of the odd behavior at that point). The first and second time I just considered it good customer service and would never knock an employee for genuinely wanting to help, but each time she asked the tone shifted a little and the intention seemed off. She made me feel like I was some kind of criminal for taking my time while deciding on purchases. Honestly, it made me want to leave the store without purchasing anything I had picked out and I may have spent more time/money in the store if not for her. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this warranted one imo in the hopes that other customers aren’t made to feel as uncomfortable as I was by...
