I wish it was possible to give zero stars.... I rate this location -5 stars. Absolutely horrible. My wife bought 4 phones while visiting family in Ohio. Two were switched over in store in Ohio. The awesome customer service guy Matt told us any Verizon store could do the other two phones for free. Just show them the receipt and they can take care of it for you.
Once in town the portage location was closed but she called Chesterton and got Jordan. He explained the process and told us to come in. He found out we were in Portage and reluctantly mentioned we could go to this location because it would be more convenient for us.
When my wife got there she was eventually greeted by a bald guy who explained it was $30 per phone to transfer over. Even after my wife explained 2 other stores said there would be no charge. My wife showed him the receipt and he glanced at it and told her that where we bought the phones wasn't even a Verizon store. (it is, and I know this because of the giant VERIZON sign above the door...
Anyways, bald guy reiterates that its $30 a phone and my wife is now on ignore until she shows him money. Needless to say she leaves. I found her crying in her car talking to Jordan in Chesterton.
So I go in. I meet up with an older gentleman who seems reluctant to walk in. I say "yeah, I feel the same way."
So I go in and a lady says "welcome to Voinkmllwmeu" didn't sound like she totally said "Verizon" before she gave up. The older guy walked right up to the bald guy and said he needed a flip phone. Poor guy. Pay your $30 now.
I wandered around a few minutes checking out cases and no one said a word to me. I expected as much based on the reviews Ive read. If you've read this far just stay out of this store. Go the extra mile...
Read moreI wasn't allowed to go inside. I guess my "main" issue can be done online and they don't do that anymore in store. The guy stood in the doorway in a way that actually blocked and prevented me from trying to come in. At first when he asked why I was there I told him about the issue and to maybe look around. After he told me it could be done online he sort of "dismissed" me. As I said, he stood in a way where he was blocking the door. It was not welcoming at all. He wasn't friendly. I won't visit this Verizon store again
I went back to this store a 2nd time for the same issue. I thought maybe this guy was having an off day, didn't know how to help me, etc. Turns out the same guy was the "greeter" and told me he remembered me, and again said it has to be done online and they can't help me. I explained that I can't figure it out and he told me to call tech support. I ended up calling customer support and they sent me a link to be able to do it. Guess what? I.STILL.COULDNT.FIGURE.IT.OUT.!!!! I finally just went to another Verizon store where the girl happily did it for me and it took less than 3 minutes. That's it. None have gone as planned after taking time off work and driving to these appointments and all the headaches of them being canceled and wasting my time and money. This time I went back to the corporate store in portage asked to speak with a manager. Got a kinda of an attitude from the associate whom I asked. However the manager Noah came out and effectively took care of the problem. Thank you Noah.
The other side of dealing with the average employee has been hit and miss for me some seem to have an attitude and not very good customer service some are ok. Feel like the average employee interaction is more negative than the positive on this.
Noah was great and it was much appreciated, however I might need to find another corporate store to deal with in the future.
