Culver’s — Restaurant in Portage

Stopped here after work last night, got a fresco salad and a grilled chicken sandwich. Let's start with the fact that the salad was 9.19 and the sandwich was 6.49 and that somehow totaled to $18 and change hmm 🤔 I guess they have magic cash registers that work in favor of the establishment. Now let's talk about this white, cold, tasteless chicken. It was never on a grill, looked and tasted like it came straight from the freezer and nuked in a microwave 👎 Now for the salad with the giant tasteless chunks of white unseasoned chicken and soggy croutons 🙄 FYI Culver's, croutons are not added during salad preparation, they're added when ordered or given to the customer in a separate package. Now I have no expectations of a gourmet meal from a fast food restaurant, but at least put in some effort when people such as myself are spending their hard earned money. I've lived in this area 10 years (and in La Porte the 6 years before that), and I've never set foot into (any) Culver's until late 2021 with my son after a doctor's appointment for an early lunch. The place was clean, the people were friendly, the food came fast, and it was good. They even have fizzy water at the soda fountain. That kinda blew my mind, TBH. That's a dealMAKER, honestly.

We went again tonight for a speedy dinner inside. There was a car line around the building (and we were like, "Ohhhhhh, boy"), but it didn't impact our indoor dining experience at all, really. Food still came pretty fast (maybe slightly less fast than when it was an early lunch with nobody there, but it was still faster than most fast food). The staff actually sounded like they were having a good time, too, which was nice.

Before the Covid-19 I had never ever had Culver's. That combined with the fact I am a lousy cook has caused me to eat take-out/fast food more than I like and search out places I have never eaten at before. After all variety is the spice of life, right? OMG, what have I been missing all these years? If you like burgers then you must try one of their Butter Burgers. Heaven on Earth for your taste buds. It's one of the rare occasions where what you order actually looks like the ads/menu pics. Anyway if you go between 3:45 pm till around 6:00 pm just be prepared there may be a decent sized line for the drive thru.....patience is a virtue though and the wait is...
