This was my first real wedding dress boutique shopping experience. BHLDN is located on the second floor of the Anthropologie store in downtown Portland, OR. There are beautiful displays and a small area for dress viewing, so I recommend not bringing too many people- one to two would be perfect. By appointment only which was easy enough to book online. This was from a few months ago, so if I recall correctly, there is a tiny consultation as to what you are looking for, some quick measurements so the consultant knows your BHLDN size, or at least, asking what your street size is and they convert from there, and then you're free to wander about and point out dresses that catch your eye. I like the selection of separates that you can customize to your taste, as well as the full dresses in a variety of lengths and styles. Since I was going to be having a courthouse wedding, I was thinking something shorter/funner or at least something more lightweight and not too bulky. I was able to try on around 5 dresses/combinations in the hour long appointment I had, that I was very pleased with. I was sent home with a lovely card with the two favorite options listed, the Hampton skirt in size 12, I am a street size 8 normally, and the Valdis dress also in size 12- a tea length style dress with a good weight and swing-iness to the skirt that I enjoyed. I did not end up purchasing my wedding dress from BHLDN, but I had such a good experience trying on styles and getting a feel for what I wanted. Emily was my consultant and she was very sweet and helpful, and I felt comfortable with her assisting with the dressing, which was something I hadn't been expecting. If you can, bring the undergarments or shoes that you would plan on wearing- just so that gives you a better idea of how the dress will...
Read moreI was a little apprehensive about BHLDN but I had the BEST experience and ended up finding THE DRESS!
It was a very laid back experience which I know our group enjoyed.
My stylists name was Hiyab and she rocked my world. She made it feel like I was shopping with my best friend. That girl deserves a raise!!! If you have the chance to request a stylist I would 110% request her!
I had a decently large group of people and she was very accommodating, pulled all of the dresses I wanted to try and a wild card dress.
Hiyab was easy to talk to and a master clipper which helped so much because the previous shops I had gone to were not good at clipping and it was hard to envision myself in the dresses.
Another thing I loved about Hiyab was her honesty. She wasn’t in your face honest but she could tell how I was feeling in the dresses and solidified my feelings. She also didn’t say I looked amazing in every dress I put on which I appreciated because the last place I had gone to they said that I looked great in every one ( which I didn’t) and it felt a bit fake to me.
Hiyab picked out the wild card dress which ended up being THE one! Through the whole process she was very open about pricing, shipping, and other things.
I would definitely recommend giving BHLDN a try, I think it will surprise you and they have something for everyone. When you go,...
Read moreI had the most amazing experience at Anthropologie Weddings with ERIN!! I went to four different places in PDX and this one was by and far the best.
First, Anthro simply has a lot of modern, gorgeous gowns -- some styles I quite literally could not find elsewhere. There were at least 4 I could have said yes to...!!
Erin was sooooo amazing. She was of course knowledgable about every single style but she also reviewed my notes, Pinterest board etc. She quickly understood what I liked and didn't like and pointed me in the right direction! She also helped me take photos, etc. Compared to other shops, I actually felt like she understood what I was going for (or not) versus just being on autopilot. I did not try on any dresses that I didn't like (whereas other places they essentially wasted my short appt time by asking me to try on stuff I knew I didn't want.)
She also was very on top of knowing inventory levels, shipping dates etc, and promptly sent an email with all the info afterwards. She was also super courteous and invited me back to try on again and shared they also do accessories appointments. I'll be going back in a few days to officially say YES!
If you're an anthro girlie already and like that style, def schedule an appt and with Erin!
PS - All of their gowns are of course on their website so do yourself a favor and review them...
