Recently did one of the "escape room" events. In theory, the event could have been a lot of fun. The room was visually detailed and immersive, but that was the only good part. First off, it was way overpriced at $30/person given the frustration and horrible puzzle implementation. It just wasn't fun, there was no sense of accomplishment or victory. The interactive pieces of the game/puzzles was clearly abused and not taken care of, and many parts were impossible to read or figure out what to do. The puzzles were very simple in theory, but even with the provided iPad to unlock extra clues (for a time penalty), we were way past what the clue told us and yet we still couldn't unlock the puzzles. Key clues were missing that made puzzles impossible to solve, and multiple times the room supervisor had to come over the intercom and give us MORE clues that we could have never known without sheer dumb luck. I'd say there were about 8 puzzles and 4-5 of them REQUIRED additional help, that defeated the point of the puzzle, the game, and any sense of accomplishment. I left the escape room thinking "what was the point and why did I pay for that?" At least there was entertainment in laughing about how pointless it was with...
Ā Ā Ā Read more$50/game is too much. Escape games usually do not cost this much, even in cities with higher cost of living like NYC or Seattle. My group and I travel to do escape rooms. We've done highly technically advanced ones with awesome production value and those still cost less than $40/game. The typical price are $35-40/game. We've cleared most escape places in Portland and the surrounding area. Nothing is $50. Most are $35-40. There is only one other game we've encounter so far where players move through multiple independent rooms (4 to be exact with 5-7 puzzles in each room) but it's a 90 minute experience at $38 so much...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCame here with cautiously optimistic expectations but left extremely happy. With some of these escape rooms I have seen you get barely a grade above cheesy Halloween props but this place went all in! The room we did was Blood Forest 2 and the puzzles took us a good minute. They were intricate enough to be challenging but not too hard as to not be able to solve them. The staff here is also great. We went with a group of 6 and bought out the room which was worth it. We had a blast and will...
