This place makes one tasty bowl. I go for one bowl, Bowl of the Gods.
The way they serve you seems kinda backwards though. They take a long time to take each customer's money because they have the loyalty card stuff that just adds to everyone's time in getting their food. Do companies realize that every "customer loyalty" swipe actually delays every transaction by a small, seemingly imperceptible amount, where people seeing a long line might otherwise pass by your store?
I don't understand why stores like this don't just have self-pay kiosks where I can pay for my order that I called in 5 minutes ago. Why do I have to wait in a stupid line with people that haven't even made up their mind yet?
This kind of restaurant is ALL about take out/to go, so make it more togo/takeout friendly!
There's loud music, so loud that I often find myself repeating my order to the server. That's a delay. Totally pointless delay, mind you.
I've had a few wrong orders as a result. I'm not getting back in line to reorder/wait.
I see potential in this company if they took the time to really sit and wait as a customer does.
Also the new Zen bowl, my first order today, came in this green soupy sticky configuration that didn't work at all. Seriously need to dump that or reconfigure it, it doesn't work. When you eat this kind of soupy mixture that has food stuck to the side of the bowl with a spoon, you get food on your shirt because the food "flicks" toward you. Ugh. I have green stains on my shirt. Dat ain't Zen, yo.
Somewhere around August or September it seemed they made their bowls smaller. Well that sucked.
And finally, they just raised the prices. It just means I'll likely reduce the number of times I come here. I do like their bowl for a quick breakfast, but I really only go here because breakfast downtown is limited.
The servers are pretty men and women and have always been fantastic.

Parked just down from the store, noticed lights were off but open sign was on. Sat in my car for a bit finishing a phone call, then walked to the store.
There was a sign up saying employee was on break. So I figured I just hang out until it reopened since I wasn't in a rush and it was just a break. Plus I'd already noticed they had the sign up the whole time I was in my car anyway...couldn't be too long.
A few mins pass, worker comes up to the door and says he's on break. I said that's fine, how long? He said thirty minutes or so ... I said okay and walked back to my car. As I walked back running the math, I'm impressed that 2 hours after opening they already had the one employee there on an hour long break making himself food... surely they don't keep the store closed for such lengths of time. Felt more like I was intruding on someone than anything else. So went elsewhere for this visit.
I've always had good service before, so this...
Read moreHaving recently discovered juicing (and being a daily juicer at home), I was elated to discover Kure juice bar opened two blocks away from my work. New to juicing? Try it out... My personal favorites from the Kure menu are the "Juice Lee," which sounds as if it might be too green, but it's surprisingly tasty... also, the "Liquid Sunshine" is continually mentioned as a favorite of many patrons.
Do your body a favor and visit Kure!
THUMBS UP: -Friendly, energetic staff -Clean, light interior -Healthy (non-juice) food items -Delicious juiced goodness -Loyalty card (I'm a sucker for businesses that reward you for visiting)
HALF-THUMB: -A tiny bit pricey, but it beats paying low McDonalds prices to ruin your body
... a new spot (Greenleaf) recently opened up downtown. I'm interested to see how their businesses compete / compliment...
