Unfortunate interaction with the owner. I was out shopping to find a gift for my fiancée. Odessa seemed like an upscale boutique with unique items. As I approached, I found that the door was locked during business hours with a "Please Knock" sign. I could see the owner speaking to a woman at the POS. I cordially knocked and waved, signaling that I would like to enter.
After several minutes of waiting, the owner approached and had a dismissive demeanor. She said that the shop is a women's-only clothing store, and that, frankly, she wouldn’t be comfortable in the shop with a man alone. I'm not sure what made her feel that I was up to something nefarious—maybe she has something against brown men.
I ended up walking away from the conversation, as she seemed very angry with my interruption of her business/day. I felt bad for her, as she couldn’t recognize her privilege—being a white female entrepreneur who has the luxury of closing her doors and picking and choosing whom...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars, I would. The attitude I experienced and lack of customer service was appalling. It seems she had a certain idea of who her clientele was, and if you weren't that- you were ignored. In fact she eyeballed me and I felt she was watching to see if I would steal something. I wanted to try on a few pair of jeans but without being greeted (in a small boutique!) or asked if she could help me, I decided to leave. When I was leaving I said "I've never been treated this way in a boutique." She said nothing, I just got a glare. She walked out later to throw away her trash and I said "thanks again for your great customer service." She gave me an evil stare and said nothing. Not okay. Everyone is a person regardless of skin color. Lady, you work in retail, isn't having customer service your job? I've never been in a shop with an owner who was so openly racist against someone...
Read moreHorrible customer service & they don't seem to check their products before sending them out.
If you're an international customer thinking about purchasing from their online shop, DON'T. They send you low quality products and they don't allow returns for international purchases. If you try to put in a claim they close their ears and repeat the same thing: the product is in "perfect condition". Not a single apology. On top of that they are extremely rude and unhelpful. Some people just shouldn't work in retail, you know? I shared my experience on an online shopping community and turns out I'm not the only one who received a below-average quality product & rude customer service. So people, just buy your stuff elsewhere. There are tons of other decent boutiques in the US. The picture is the bag that is, according to Odessa Boutique, in...
