Nice selection of touristy stuff- however when I was checking out, a young girl (age 10 or so who was accompanied by her older sister) dropped her bag as soon as the cashier handed it to her. Suddenly there was a lot of water seeping through the bag and the young girl looked as if she was going to cry. The cashier and Asian woman behind the counter didn’t seem to care AT ALL. The young girl quickly grabbed the bag and gave it to the cashier to clean up her mess and make sure no one got cut by the broken glass. The big sister waited for one of the people behind the counter to simply say something about what had just happened but nothing... for a good two minutes or so...so they left. I quickly spoke up as they walked out the door and asked the Asian woman if she would replace whatever the young girl had bought (I believe it was a small snow globe due to the water) and she yelled at me saying “I DIDNT BREAK IT, SHE DID. NOT MY PROBLEM”
Now, I understand the whole you break it you buy it stuff.... but really? It’s a tiny snow globe, not some valuable irreplaceable piece of hand painted china. It was just heartless and left me angry. I have daughters and it broke my heart to see this young girl torn up about the bag she dropped as soon as the cashier handed it to her. And for them to not just tell her to grab a new one and have a good day??? Why? Smh....
Be careful in this store- there are a lot of breakables and some heartless brutal people working there... I cant stand when people forget how a little kindness can...
Read moreGreat store with wide selection, incredible prices, and AMAZING customer service! I was on a company retreat back in late May when I picked up a Maine Flag charm for our puppy. She was so excited to get it as part of the gifts we brought home for the family! Unfortunately her little charm was lost during a recent vet operation. We live across the country, and I was disheartened that we would not have a way to get her her charm back. Enter Shipwreck and Cargo to the rescue! I called their store, and let them know the situation, and they shipped out two charms for our puppy!! We got them in the mail today, and all we (Penny Benny included) can say is THANK YOU!! This is what I call AMAZING customer service! Happy to see you stay in business and keep up...
Read moreThis was a cool little gift shop we visited in Portland on 10/31/20. They have a good amount of merchandise and souvenirs, and we purchased a few miscellaneous items i.e. magnets, a shot glass, a few key chains, a few coasters, and a souvenir ship. The younger gal working there that night though was not very helpful and actually kind of rude. We arrived 20 minutes before their closing time (after a long drive) and she was following us and the other customers around and seemed as though she was trying to rush us out of there. My wife and I spent close to $100 in this shop, so her attitude towards us and the other customers was not appreciated! Otherwise, the shop was clean, organized, and had a nice variety of souvenirs for tourists...
