Simply Scandinavian — Local services in Portland

This store was one of the shopping highlights of our visit to Portland. The merchandise is very high quality and we were able to pick up several bargains at nice prices. The owner provided answers to a lot of questions and offered to ship items to our home. When we returned, a very well packed box had already arrived with considerably more shipping costs than we paid. There was glass, paper, and fabric enclosed and all were separated so everything was in excellent condition upon receipt. Service like this is very rare these days and I hope stores like this one will be recognized for the gift they are. Thank you.

I recently got the results of my DNA test and found that I'm actually a percentage Swedish. My wife is a much larger percentage Norwegian. When we saw this store on a recent trip to Portland (Maine), we had to stop in and support them! Such an amazing selection of Scandinavian books, housewares, clothing, Moomin merch, food, and so much more! As if that wasn't enough, one of the owners (Tom) was behind the register. No question, the best shop we stumbled upon while visiting Portland last weekend. The owners were so kind and friendly, we ended up chatting for a while and felt so welcome. The products they offered were high quality and so beautiful, I wanted to take it all home with me. Good range when it comes to pricing, from inexpensive items to expensive, for children and adults—it’s a thoughtful selection—there’s something for everyone.
