Have enjoyed the Womancraft store in Provincetown for about 35 years. Now owned by Michelle (with her sweet Mom as one of her her assistants), it is a wonderful tradition that I look forward to every year during my P-Town fix! I had a special Goddess necklace that my daughter Lisa purchased for me over 30 years ago that I rarely took off. It broke this Spring and I was heartbroken. I called Womancraft (many times as poor Michelle will attest to almost to the point of harassment I think). I cannot tell you how kind and supportive she was, and ordered a number of necklaces so when I came to town I could hopefully replace what I had lost. Upon arrival, it was one of the first places I visited. Unfortunately none of the Goddesses were a match to mine until Michelle happened to pull out a bracelet from her glass case. It was the closest to any I had seen. Michelle began working on dismantling the bracelet to remove one of the delicate figures and I told her a did not expect her to destroy a bracelet for me. It took some time and she worked intensely on the project. Sure enough, she managed to produce the beautiful, delicate figure for me to replace my original. She was so extremely kind and generous that I would hope you will all stop by and do some shopping there. Thanks again Michelle, you are...
Read moreSuch a cool store! As a gay man, but far more as a father to three young adult daughters, I absolutely LOVE that this shop exists. I know it has a long history in Ptown, and it chronicles a much broader history of women and both their fight for equal treatment and their powerful contributions to some of the best ideals and achievements our society offers. If you’re shopping for a woman in your life, I can’t imagine a better shop. They had inspirational t-shirts, a collection of books, artwork, pottery, jewelry, stickers and buttons, mugs, knick-knacks, and so much stuff I’m sure I didn’t even really get the chance to look at. They also had a banned book table, which I thought was really cool. This store is just a great mainstay of the local community, and the world would be a better place if it existed in every community. I’m so happy to have stumbled on it and can’t wait to come back one day, hopefully with my daughters...
Read moreA breath of fresh air in the Ptown Commercial St scene. Feminist book and craft stores are few and far between but provide essential spaces to learn and connect. Immediately felt at home here.
Womencrafts boasts a thoughtfully curated books section, artwork, and other goods. It’s clean, well lit, and intuitively organized. My partner and I missed out on a book reading during my stay in the area but glad to hear from the owners about their efforts to make the store a community space and PTown more queer friendly (not just gay). Went back another day and had a lovely, friendly experience with another staff member.
In short: a must stop if you’re doing the...
