Heads up, there's a new king in Provincetown! Helltown is not a restaurant, it's an experience. The dinner I had there wasn't just incredibly good, it was fun. The menu is ballsy, sexy, innovative, the combinations are brilliant and they take a lot of risks. The food is colorful and creative, REALLY spicy, not meant for the faint of heart. We ordered 2 appetizers, 2 main courses and one dessert. The avocado and crab was generous, nutty and creamy, the shrimp had a nice kick to it and dipping the tostones in the hot sauce that came with it was just amazing (I would suggest a little drop of lime on the shrimp though). The steak was cooked to perfection, it was a delicious cut, the yucca fries were crunchy and nicely seasoned and the chimichurri sauce was a genius idea. I thought that the coconut curry cod was the absolute best. The fish was soft and tasty, the sauce milky, delicate, like a warm embrace on the palate and the basmati rice soaked all of it and made the overall texture perfect. I do believe though that the superstar of the meal was the dessert, a marvelous, Mexican style, churro-based cheesecake. Words cannot possibly describe how delicious it was. A crunchy, sugary base topped with a refreshing cream cheese, delicate notes of cinnamon that linger in your mouth long after you've had a bite. The drinks were also very well executed, the service was good, nice and professional, nobody rushed us and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. I can't wait to go back to Provincetown just to have dinner there again. Thanks for such a beautiful evening!

The ceviche soured our dinner. Served in a small glass (i.e. chia pudding) there were small-sized fillets of a fibrous fish in an acidic watery sauce that had been so overpowered by lime it was not only hard to eat but tasted like nothing. “Prepared in the traditional Peruvian style”… Well I just came from Lima, Peru and not only does this failed experiment not resemble anything that I consider “Peruvian style” or even had the proper cut or presentation of a Peruvian ceviche but it made the ranking for the WORST most HORRIFIC ceviche I have eaten in my life. Recommendation to the chef: Drop it off the menu and start from scratch. Re: the rest of the food we ordered was average with super long wait times. Portions were measly

What a phenomenal dining experience. We were a party of 12 and from the moment we spoke with Willy to talk about the evening, everything was sensational. We were greeted by Galanzo and had a beautiful table outside. Todd and an entourage of beautiful people provided great, friendly service and can we talk about the food? Personally for me the red snapper was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time and even now, less than 24 hours later, I want to go back and have it again. Rave reviews from everyone on the ceviche, the lobster risotto, the cod, and more. Thank you to the extraordinary team at Helltown Kitchen it was scrumptious. Can’t wait to return!

All the hype fell flat, feeling like we were in Hell... Literally, there was only one good experience about this place, the soup special of cucumber gazpacho soup - amazing! The server never once greeted, smiled, or spoke to us while giving water or taking dishes or in between requests for something; not a people person at all. We were a party of 4, all our pricey cocktail sounded great but poorly executed tasting horrible, having to request different additives to spruce up in order to toss them down. The waiter asked how they were, we clearly responded w/disappointment but he didn't skip a beat ignoring us, not to mention not even offering a replacement, seriously! Our curry entrees continued to be disappointing being overpowered w/spices. We had requested separate checks in the beginning of our service but that was forgotten, no big deal until the waiter insisted we just split the tab which normally would have been fine however the other half didn't order nearly as many plates as us. I've never in my life (I'm older and a foodie) had a waiter suggest such a thing. Then he still mixed up the orders on the tabs. Nothing other than the soup and company spent w/our friends went well at all, nor would I ever give it a second chance bc of the mishandling of everything. Completely over rated.

In response to the disgruntled owner: I am actually stunned by the owner's attacking and dismissive response which was filled with deception! You immediately attempt to discredit, insult, and disregard my review(s) by lying as to my review history, demonstrating maturity. Then again, this behavior was the overall response and theme that night, to look past us, not acknowledge, care, or attempt to turn around our dining experience. Lots of words Willy but no action! My review is the consensus of 4 people that evening, therefore you’re attacking all of us. The only point that was accurate was we split the bill at the end, I had intended on paying but the other party insisted on their own bill.

We arrived just as you opened, with our party arriving within a few minutes of one another, being one of a few tables seated in the entire restaurant with everyone spread out, not having a single person seated around us the entire meal until we got the bill then a party was seated next to us, being impossible for anyone to hear such detailed quotes full of inaccuracies. Water, it’s water, not a discussion! Have no idea about your rant because you weren’t there?!

The kicker is there’s acknowledgement specifically that the entire table was not satisfied w/our horrible tasting $14 cocktails or entrees yet if, as you say that you were supposedly right there hearing every last breath then why as an owner didn’t you intervene? What you’re saying is you just sat there right next to us hearing all our complaints but did NOTHING!

We went here bc of the good reviews, however that was not our experience and there are others who have the same reviews, nor does everyone write a review, especially if it’s negative bc they don’t want to be bullied by owners like you…

Thanks for making our experience even more “Hell” even...

Disappointed to be posting this review but recently went with a group of friends (9 people total) for a special celebration and had such a poor experience. They were careless with cross-contamination of food and for a 7:30 reservation, we didn't eat anything until after 8:30 pm. We chose this restaurant because it was well-liked by friends and family. We arrived at the time of our reservation and the host told us our table would be ready in 10 min, it was ready over 30 min later. Once seated, it took over 15 min for a server to come take our order, he stated the kitchen was backed up and that's why he was delayed. When we were placing orders, he said there was no cross-contamination between seafood and the fryer used for french fries. He then said that he actually wasn't sure about cross-contamination and recommended someone in our party avoid French fries, just in case (they have a severe seafood allergy). Broccolini was provided as a substitute, however, it arrived cold. The server then microwaved the food to re-heat it. For the gluten allergy, the person requested a salad without breadcrumbs and the salad had to be re-fired.

The food was delicious however the floor staff made the experience incredibly unpleasant, they were disorganized and uncommunicative. The floor manager never checked in, despite walking past our table multiple times and seeing us waiting. We tried to contact the restaurant afterwards to raise our concerns and they have not replied, despite us paying over $70 per person for...
