Healthy dose of racism for $66.
Yikes where do I begin. I walked into this place with my girlfriend this weekend and it took forever for anyone to even acknowledge us until we finally tried to seat ourselves. The busboy finally pointed us to a table. And then we waited for over 15 minutes for someone to come over to our table, it wasn’t crowded so I’m not sure why that was the case.
We watched two other parties come in and be warmly greeted, sat down, and waited on before the same busboy asked us if our waitress had been to our table. Almost ten minutes after that a waitress finally came over without apologizing or introducing herself. She asked us want we wanted to drink I ordered a Downeast Cider and my girlfriend ordered a beer, we also ordered our food. The waitress brought me an Octoberfest Downeast cider that so old there were chunks floating in it. She walked away before we could even say anything. She didn’t return until our food was ready.
The food was a whole other matter. The waitress practically threw our food on the table and walked away. I ordered a toasted sandwich and it was ice cold in the middle. My girlfriends food was also below average at best. No one ever came to check on us while we were seated. Our waitress obviously had an attitude and we received a lot of stares from people in the rest of the people in the restaurant. When we made eye contact with other members of the staff and tried to wave them down we were ignored. We couldn’t help but notice we were the only black people in the place and everyone around us seem to be getting excellent service. We felt very uncomfortable and very unwelcome, which is a shame for a town where everyone is supposed to...
Read moreMy girlfriends & I made a semi-annual trip to Provincetown last weekend and it was a pretty busy Saturday afternoon. After exploring all our favorite shops and walking around for hours we went over to the Squealing Pig (recommendations from several of the people working at the shops)and it was packed. Not a single table free. Julie, the most amazing hostess, was optimistic that a table would free up in 15 minutes or so. We told her that we wanted to explore the cute little shop next door so off we went. About 10 minutes later she actually went next door to find us! Who does that? Especially a place so busy with others starting to line up outside? We were so grateful! Julie gave us the best table in the front window and recommended some of her favorites on the menu (we asked). We all picked one of her recommendations and they were all great! I got the lobster roll- one of the very best that I’ve ever had. Lightly dressed with mayonnaise and just the right amount of lettuce on a delicious lightly grilled roll. So good! The Bloody Mary’s were fantastic as well. Our waiter was the perfect combination of attentive without over doing it. Highly recommend this gem of a restaurant to all, you won’t be...
Read moreEven if you've walked by the squealing pig many times, it's time you set for inside for a meal. SP has the charm and appeal of a local pub but with very thoughtfully and well-prepared dining options. On today's menu, a seasonal been stew that was absolutely delicious served with crispy roasted potato segments atop it, the sirloin was delicate and delicious, with brussel sprouts and root veggies and a delicious sauce... Not your average stew by an means. The chicken pesto sandwich was pressed on a panini grill and served with chili fries. But the chili was interesting with celery and onion and pepper as well as the customary meat and beans... We arrived hungry and the meal was a delightful surprise, and left determined to return to try other items on the menu. The bar looks great although we are lunch and didn't sample any of the alcoholic beverages... But next time plan to do so. For this point for a cozy place to dine in an old seaside town, drop in and try the options at the squealing pig, and for those who passed it by, it's time to give this familiar spot a...
