What I liked: Pretty much everything. This is a great location, half a block off Commercial Street, easily walkable to restaurants and shops but just outside of the busiest (noisiest) areas. |Innkeeper Daniel is friendly, fun to chat with, and very helpful if you have questions.|Rooms are clean and nicely furnished. Beds are comfortable. There were 3 people / 2 rooms this trip. We changed rooms after 1 night - that was planned, there was nothing wrong with the first room, but done so we could have both rooms on the 3rd floor that share a terrace (one 3rd floor room wasn't available our first night). One 3rd floor room is the "penthouse" and the other is quite small. The penthouse is spacious with a separate sitting area and little kitchenette and nice partial views of the harbor. There are windows on 3 sides and the ventilation in there is fabulous with lovely breezes even on warm September days.|Be advised that if you're on the top floor of one of these lovely old Ptown homes, roofs often have a steep pitch and there will be areas where you need to watch your head. We've had similar experiences in other inns in Provincetown, so I wasn't surprised, but one of us did have to watch our heads getting out of bed, and I did hit my head once in the shower. I found it a small price to pay for that terrace with the view, but if that will annoy you, pick a room on another floor.|Breakfast includes pastries, breads, fruits, cheeses, and yogurt. If you want a full hot breakfast (I don't), there are places that are an easy walk nearby.|The inn includes free parking, although you'll need to leave your car keys because space is limited and cars need to be moved around. One afternoon when I felt uncomfortable about pulling out my car with another vehicle very close, Daniel backed it out for me. (We only used the car to drive to the National Seashore and spend time at the beach, otherwise we walked everywhere).|We have been to Provincetown many times and have stayed at a number of different inns, since we like trying different places. Benchmark Inn is our new favorite. We...
Read moreTerrific stay at this lovely Provincetown inn, centrally located in the historic district. We stayed in room 7, next to the penthouse and we had a semi-private deck overlooking the harbor. This particular room is quite compact with a slanted roof that makes it feel even a bit smaller but we were quite comfortable and you have a full private bathroom. Central air conditioning, ceiling fan, extra outlets with USB plugs available next to the bed, good quality towels and bath products, reading lamps and a small television… Everything you need.
Every morning there is a lovely breakfast available in the common area, freshly baked bread and pastries, cheese, yogurt, fruit, hard or soft boiled eggs, cereal, fresh juices, teas and delicious coffee from an automated Swiss machine. There is a beautiful garden just outside the breakfast room where you can eat during good weather, it is peaceful and a very pleasant place to enjoy your breakfast. There are snacks And drinks available all day, peanuts, pretzels etc. Daniel and Don have thought about everything necessary for their guests to have a pleasant visit to Provincetown. Don couldn’t have been more helpful, assisting me with a restaurant reservation and also helping me to return my bike rental.
Looking forward to next summer so that we can have another visit to this...
Read moreMy partner and I are longtime guests at the neighboring property, 8Dyer, and I was curious to check out Benchmark when it was purchased by 8Dyer owners, Steve and Brandon. I had a guest visiting from Canada and we made a last minute decision to go to PTown for one night. Steve put us in Room 2 at Benchmark and it was lovely! Very comfortable with incredible light and views from the semi-private deck. If you haven’t been to either property, both are immaculate and cozy. Both have access to the pool and hot tub and both have the incredible benefit of Brandon’s cooking talent! The warm, gracious, and personal attention that Steve, Brandon and Shane share with their guests is what truly sets their properties apart from the rest. My friend, who was visiting PTown for the first time said she felt like she was meeting my family. The town is an incredibly special place filled with wonderful people and the 8Dyer / Benchmark crew is absolutely the best...
