I want to express my deep dissatisfaction with the customer service my mother and I experienced at Triangle Mall during a recent visit to return a dress she purchased.
The dress, which was intended as a bridesmaid dress, was bought just one day prior and had a visible cosmetic defect. Due to the change in plans for the wedding and the flaw in the dress, we returned to the store with the original receipt in hand. Despite the fact that the dress was unused and recently purchased, we were met with incredibly rude behavior from two employees.
My mother does not speak English fluently, so I was assisting her with the return process. From the moment we approached customer service, the first employeeâa Black womanâwas visibly annoyed, rolling her eyes and smacking her lips as I asked questions. When we asked to speak with a manager, an Indian woman came out and was equally unprofessional, raising her voice at us without any provocation.
While I understand that store policy may prevent a full refund due to the final sale designation (which my mother was unaware of because of the language barrier), the attitude and treatment we received were unacceptable. Eventually, the manager offered a store gift card, which we appreciated. However, during the entire transaction, the first employee continued to act inappropriatelyâbooing, making loud and obnoxious comments, and showing clear disapproval that the manager had offered the gift card.
The behavior of both employees was deeply unprofessional and made an already stressful situation much worse. We were simply trying to resolve a valid concern over a $160 dress sold with a defect, and instead we were treated with hostility and disrespect.
I hope this issue will be taken seriously, and that staff will be reminded of the importance of respectful and inclusive customer serviceâespecially when dealing with customers who may face...
Read moreOn 2.28.17 I was reminded first hand that I am a African American male living in a society dominated with stereo types. Once I arrived to Dillardâs originally looking for athletic pants I notice 65% off sale on selected men clothing, so I decided to comb the store for great deals. After a couple of minutes I noticed a white security guard on his radio âred and blue sweaterâ. I was never asked or received a greeting from any staff member, however a white couple was greeted âif you need any assistance please askâ. I proceeded to the dressing room to try on two pair of pants and sweatshirt, items I will return. Upon leaving the dressing room, the white security guard walked inside of the only available dressing room I assume looking for empty hangers. At this time I am 100% sure I am being followed by this white security guard. I purposely walked across the store to the Ralph Lauren section which is across the men department and yes the white security officer followed. At this time I ask to speak with a manager. The manager arrives and I asked the manager why am I being followed by this security officer? She replies âI donât knowâ. I then asked to speak with the store manager. On his arrival the store manager statement âhow do you know you are being followed?â I ask the store manager to pick me out a red and blue sweater in the athletic department. Store manager replies âwe have no red and blue sweater in this department.â This confirms my suspicion, why is your security guard looking for a red and blue sweater that doesnât exist. I was wearing a red and blue jacket! Less just say I will no longer shop in this store, however this will continue to happen to African American men on a daily bases. Thank you Dillard staff and security staff for...
Read moreGreat Selection but horrible Customer service from employee Hanna! Older lady in womens dress department has some prejudice Tendencies! My wife bought some clothes from here on the 19th of December! She took it home and tried it on with her outfit and it didnt work out! We took one of the dresses back on the 21st of December for return to find something else! The return process was unsettling! Hanna which was the name in the receipt! Idk if that is her actual name but asian lady in dresses kept on looking at my wife oddly and asking if she wore the dress! My wife stated she only tried it on but never wore it! The cashier she said okay just looks different! Then she proceeded to hang it on the rack and then and look it at oddly! Once again asking my wife if she steamed it! My wife states no! After that she went to grab another identical dress because she stated that it looked a little different! My wife and I of course getting a little upset asked what the issue was and why she kept making assumptions about us doing something to the dress! She stated that people do it all the time and she wanted to make sure! And then proceeded to say we do it to everyone not just you which makes it oblivious that she her self knew she was coming off as a prejudice person! I told my wife to get her name but she stated it was on the receipt! She them proceeded to make other returns we other customers without any issues! Might be her true colors shining! Felt offended the other Other customers didnt get the same treatment only us! They need to check this lady and make sure she is fit for the position! Like i said the store itself is great but that lady needs to be cleaning the bathrooms and bot running a...
