i was excited to visit this new daiso, but tbh i think i'll stick with the old location off of haven and the 210.
this new daiso (off foothill!) is in a traffic-heavy area, so there are a lot of customers shopping here in comparison to the haven location. the selection was okay, but not as diverse.
my biggest disappointment was at the register; when the cashier (a young girl with short red hair) called for cash-only customers, i volunteered in order to surpass the long line.
she couldn't break $100, which was totally fine and half-expected anyway - but, when i asked if i could just take my items back and return to the line to pay with card instead, she hesitated and said she'd rather keep them behind the counter lol. i'm a tall black woman, so okay - i get it.
i awkwardly shuffled back to the end of the (even longer) line and waited again, now empty-handed, looking like a fool. eventually the lead (?) cashier (a young girl with long, black hair and glasses) called the people behind me to the counter, so i reminded her that i hadn't actually purchased my items yet and i was technically (literally) next in line - just obviously without my items now.
she asked me how i intended to pay; i said that i had tried paying with cash, but the bill couldn't be broken, so i wanted to pay using my card now. she nodded and said she understood............ and then started whispering loudly about me to the cashier who called me up originally??? something about how it was just impossible to handle a $100 bill - which is fiiiine lol!
but then they skipped me entirely and called for the next customer anyway 😂 i ask, "can i still buy my stuff?" and they say to me (the first solution they'd offered): "you can go next door for change lol". at this point i'm done and asking if i can just ring my self up (with the card in my hand no one thought to acknowledge 😅)
i guess i'm wondering why no one asked questions? offered solutions? problem solved? like, was it assumed that i got BACK into line with my card out, ready to pay, just to look like cute and waste time lol?
The cashiers were both super inexperienced and it felt a lot like the blind leading the blind, especially since i work as a cashier myself, so i know what good customer service looks like and tonight i really didn't get that experience at this daiso location. Rather than the cashier looking at me with a vacant expression, she could've just asked "can you pay with a different method?"
the cherry on top was being ignored as i left too 😅 i had to wish /them/ a good evening, after eight long hours of doing so myself at my...

That’s right!
This second location is situated in the former Tuesday Morning shop in the Terra Vista Plaza off Foothill and Elm - or, next to Seafood City and Party City.
Both locations have the typical stationery, gifting, dishware, kitchen gadgets, household items, plush toys, and other tchotchkes. While the first Daiso in RC served many guests, I am sure this second location will serve many more guests as it is larger in size and has more offerings.
Prices as of November 2024 are $1.75 each item unless marked.
The service today could’ve been better. I purchased over a dozen adorable ornaments (to be used for my gift-wrapping accessories) and the girl that rang me up just tossed them in the bag so carelessly! I’ve been to many other Daiso locations and at least they gently and considerately place them into the shopping bags. That is the one thing that the cashier could work on, which is to be more mindful of that.
Also note: They do not take American Express cards here, even though the point-of-sale card reader includes an AMEX logo.
Another note: Be careful crossing the street here. There are plenty of parking spaces but it gets congested during peak hours and weekends.
Overall, I enjoy coming to Daiso to browse the cute office stationery and the newest...
Read moreI love Daiso as a whole, the Terra Vista Towne Center Daiso is absolutely the Best!! Super clean , spacious and Joseph's friendly and welcoming greeting at the door was refreshing. He didn't just greet every other person walking in like some businesses. Joseph greeted every single person entering Daiso with a genuine hello. Joseph made me want to come back to Terra Vista Daiso just for his great customer service and care. Great job Daiso for hiring...
